Okami Japanese Restaurant — Restaurant in Melbourne

We came here for a birthday lunch, we usually go to the other Okami closer to our home. But we thought to give this place a try although this is further, as we were feeling disappointed with the other franchise visits that we have tried. Other than Brunswick Okami thats probably the best one so far we have visited.

Well this Sunbury Okami probably tops all the others we have now visited. Whoever is the Chef/s, the food was perfectly cooked and the sushi was fresh and the eggplant we had them at other Okami but none of my kids would eat it, but on this occasion we we were fighting for more, it was charred crispy and delicious. All the food we ordered were top notch, and it came on time.

The customer service where top notch, always attentive and friendly unlike the other Okami we have been to, we usually are waiting for almost 30m to get served or the food would come out 45m later in really small servings too and at times just sitting there empty table looking around, probably some Okami franchise need more organising in comparison to Sunbury and Brunswick who definitely leads it.

I was very surprised visiting Sunbury Okami, this is definitely our number 1 go to place now if we want to eat at Okami. I hope it stays that way and keep up...

Been wanting to eat Japanese food and after reading the online reviews, we decided to come here for dinner but was really disappointed!. The restaurant wasn't that full but the service was really slow. We ordered early and got to order a handful of food to start with but the first order took 30minutes to be given to us! Staff keep asking if we want to order more and I keep telling them we are still waiting for the first order to come. You can't order more as you will also be charged for leftovers! They keep saying it will be brought to us soon. We were already starving but still no food! Soon means 30minutes and just one food was brought and we have to wait for another 10 or so minutes for the other foods! This is not what a Japanese service is like! Well, probably staff doesn't really know what Japanese service is as I did not see any Japanese staff there. Staff said the order will be based on the number of people, like if there are 5 people, the skewers will be for 5 people. This isn't true in our case. We were given only 3 skewers when 5 of us...

Great, flavourful meals ! Always wanted to try Okami once I heard from a relative that the 'all you can eat' meals were very fresh and authentic in flavour. Went with my family and it certainly didn't disappoint anyone. Love how fresh the food is with good sized portions that leaves enough room to try all sorts of option from their large variety of a menu. Recommend the sesame seed ice cream. Another reason why this place is so great is due to how clean the place , no messy floors, dirty tables or flies that put you off from eating. Sadly one time there was some problem to which no one in the whole busy restaurant got their meals/drinks for at least 15 minutes. The didn't tell us what was worng and it stuffed up our orders for the rest of the night after that. But that was just a fluke and probably won't happen again. Overall it a good...
