I went here with a group of 17 other ladies and it was a nice evening out. The food was very good, it kept coming out as this is an 'all you can eat' Japanese restaurant. The menu is quite vast and the array of food is pretty amazing that there should be something for everyone. Most people I have met think Japanese food is just raw fish. This is not the case at this restaurant, so you will be pleasantly surprised at how much is cooked and how well it is prepared and presented.
If you are looking for something different and you want to stick to a budget, give this restaurant a go. Just make sure that you take cash because they only allow one card per table, no matter how much you spend or how many people there are. The price is AUD $34.50 adult and they also have a seniors and children's price. We didn't find out about the senior price until after I had paid that I could have got my Mother's meal $5 cheaper. The other downside is that there is no ATM there or close to take cash out to pay. This needs to be rectified if you won't allow people to pay individually and you don't advertise that it's one bill or no split bills. Considering how much we spent I think allowing 3 or 4 people to pay by card would not have hurt your bottom line.
If you are disabled, there is really no parking close by for you so this might be hard for you as it was for my Mother.
Seating: the seats are very low so if you are a tall person please be aware of this. I recommend to the restaurant to consider getting some seating that's higher. A lot of Australians are tall hence the need of...
Read moreCome here if you want to spend a night being left hungry as you sit at your table waiting 20 minutes for each individual little dish to come, despite being promised you'll be able to 'eat all you want'. The ethics of this place are just despicable - the tactic they use in order save money and rip off customers is to allow people to order all they want from their (highly limited) menu, only to purposely not even bother cooking all the dishes/hold them back from customers by keeping them in the kitchen. Essentially, you finish the 2-3 plates they give you, wait another 20 minutes before you get a few more (does it really take 20minutes to prepare a platter of pre cooked sushi? Fry 2 pieces of eggplant or 3 thin pieces of beef?) and end up only getting about a quarter of the dishes you order before the allocated buffet time is over, leaving you with way less food than you'd get at a regular Japanese restaurant for $30 per head and a much longer waiting time. And sure, they can claim they do this in order to 'minimise waste', however, the ridiculous amount of time taken before you get your next round of food suggests their intentions are to waste as much time as possible, and force you out with their 5-7pm sitting time before you can stay long enough for all your dishes to arrive, maximising their profits. Apart from the horrible udon, which consists of overly salty soup and 3 strands of noodles, as well as the dry, sour agedashi tofu, the food here is ok, but their dirty tricks ruin...
Read moreI have been here before the service was very good and so was the food. This visit was terrible! We had 13 people in our group 11 adults and 2 children. We were seated downstairs where we felt we were in a box, literally no view and the seating was so closed and crammed together. So we did our order the food came come in a trickle so I asked our waiter we needed to order more food before I could order he said to me do you know of our food waste policy. You were so damn lucky my grandchildren were present because how dare you tell me such nonsense when you haven’t even gave us our food? And then this lady server was giving us all the food we didn’t order because my daughter kept telling our waiter that we never ordered what food we are getting. So to sum this up this restaurant in Greensborough is a no go and not at all recommended. Please avoid if you are taking a big group. I hope the Owner see this. To rude waiter that served us, you definitely need more training. What a waste of my over 400 plus drinks, never again Oakami Greensborough. Unless there will be changes your not a good place to visit.😡 on this note we finished all...
