August 2023 first time here. My reviews and thoughts are my own and from my experience on the day. Ordered the beef pho, grilled abalone and Mekong clay pot fish with rice at midday. First impressions is the beautiful decor and ambience, reminiscent of my childhood migrating to Australia as a refugee living in Richmond. Flavours and aromatics weren’t as hoped for. The beef pho was our starter and it did not disappoint! Broth is rich and beefy not the clear ones full of msg. Uncle roger would approved of the quantity of msg. The thinly sliced beef complimented the long, unbroken, pho strands. Accompanying the beef as an accent is the authentic Vietnamese chilli sauce and their chilli oil. I would personally bottle that chilli oil to go and dunk any braised meats in it!! Mike Chen has competition on his chilli oil brand. Overall, I’d come back every day for the pho. Best in Springvale for now. I haven’t been back to any of the high rating pho restaurants in Springvale for the last six months or year. Read my other reviews for reasons. The Mekong clay pot fish was sweet savoury with a hint of chilli. The rice portion was for a petite diner. Overall, I’d prefer the braised clay pot fish from the other restaurants around because it’s a tad salty sweet and chilli that has been simmered in the clay pot accentuating the earthiness of the basa fish or cat fish. The grilled green lip abalone with fried spring onions and crushed roasted peanuts sprinkled on top added extra crunch to the tender mollusks. The sweet chilli fish sauce delivers the diner back to Vietnam but it did require a Vietnamese mint to chase it down. Would I suggest this restaurant? Hell yea!!’ Delicious food and beautiful restaurant. Prices are great and comparable. Morning take out specials are awesome with a bowl of pho and Viet coffee for $15!!!

We came to Le Feu in a large group last night and we left with full happy bellies!!! First of all, you NEEEEEED to book a table. Even on a Wednesday night they were 100% packed. On our table we had a mix of meat eaters, a pescatarian, fussy kids, one adult who enjoys Vietnamese food regularly in all different restaurants and an apprehensive adult who is new to Vietnamese cuisine. Everyone was well catered to, and there’s something there for everyone!!!! The kids absolutely LOVED the calamari and fried chicken. The fried chicken was super crispy, juicy, and even the pescatarian in the group devoured some-they were irresistible. The adult experienced in Vietnamese cuisine had the spicy beef soup and said it was the best he’d had, ever. The adult who has never had Vietnamese loved it so much and said he’d come back. The soft shell crab bao were crispy and flavoursome, the crab consommĆ© soup was sooooooo delicate yet rich in flavour, the fermented fish soup was tangy and delicious but the absolute standout for us was the XO sauce clams. Insane flavour, and you can’t help but just guzzle them all down!!! They’re the perfect appetiser to share. Staff were lovely and service was very fast. Prices are super reasonable and portions are very large! We couldn’t finish all our food and they kindly gave us takeaway containers to fill and take home. The atmosphere (I only gave 4āļø) is quite plain and perhaps outdated but honestly I’d rather the food be the focus than the decor. There’s no threshold at the front, so the little ramp is wheelchair friendly but it’s a little too tight once you get in for a mobility scooter or pram to move freely. My mum would be able to come in her wheelchair but not her scooter. Thankyou for having us last night, we’ll be back for sure for some more incredible food.

I struggled whether I should give this place 4 or 5 stars. In the end, I decided on 5 stars because they deserve it. Why did I hesitate? Because 5 stars means that this is the best pho you can get, and it isn't. It is REALLY good pho, but their problem is that they are in Springvale where there are better pho options around. If they were in my suburb, I would go there very often. Pho Dac Biet. Flavour 4/5. The broth was slightly cloudy and not as intense as other shops nearby. Lacking in umami and beefiness. However, really generous with the herbs. You get a lighter flavoured broth with bright fresh herbs, which might be a 5/5 if that was your preference. Meat 4/5. Even though it was the Wagyu pho, there were only a few pieces of Wagyu. The meat serving was generous. Lost marks for not having tripe in the pho, and some of the meat was rather tough. Noodles 5/5. Nothing wrong with the noodles here, they were excellent. Bun Bo Hue: Flavour 3/5. Lacking in flavour, umami, spice, and acid. I had to squeeze all the lemon juice out and add some fish sauce and chilli to get it to taste balanced. Again they were generous with herbs so it tasted bright and herby. Meat 5/5. Nothing wrong with the meat in my bowl, there was plenty of it and it was cooked well. Noodles 5/5. Nothing to complain about. Bolalot (minced meat wrapped in betel leaves). 5/5. Outstanding. The meat was soft and beautifully seasoned. Fried chicken. 5/5. Outstanding. Crispy, juicy, and nice sweet chilli dipping sauce. Service and ambience: 4/5. Better than your average Vietnamese restaurants (all those places get 3/5). They are actually friendly! But still a no frills suburban Vietnamese restaurant.

A low 4 star review Space & Atmosphere: the place is quite narrow, i could barely walk without turning. Secondly, it's abit difficult to find parking during peak hours as this place is street parking only

Food: It was very tasty and full of authentic flavour. The portion is pretty large as well, giving its price abit higher than springvale average but worth every cents. I tried the Pho with beef softbone which the broth was so flavourful & aromatic that make me feeling like eating in Viet Nam. The meat has been cut and trim nicely which is the main thing I love about this restaurant, unlike other Vietnamese restaurants in springvale where the meat is so messy & thin.

Variety: There are lots of authentic Vietnamese dishes in the menu where I could barely find around East Melbourne area. Especially, the snails & shellfishes dishes are really attractive, I tried the sweet snails with tamarind sauce, the sauce is abit salty but overall it's acceptable and flavourful, I really like it as it tastes really authentic.

I think that you guys should re-organise the menu as it's quite not coherent & homogeneous acrossing 2 pages. Secondly, it's not same font size and each subheadings are not in alphabetical order which I found quite struggling to read. The language should be reconsidered to be Vietnamese only or english only as it's quite messy & difficult to understand other dishes. The dishes image should have a line that mention the name of the dish or what number is it so i could see which dish is that image.

Overall, the food is great & flavourful, the price reflect its quality which could be shown through the details that shows in the dishes where the meat is nicely cut & trim, the veggies is also pretty decent portion & well made with picked carrots which I barely find in other restaurant in the area. They also try to deliver the authentic fish sauce dips where vietnamese usually called it "Nước mįŗÆm kįŗ¹o" which is another that I really impressed on the first try out.

Keep going & maintain & improve it!!! My place to go in Springvale...
