One of the worst experiences I've had in a cafe. On entrance no greeting, no acknowledgment we had entered we just stood by the counter until someone asked if we needed something. We asked for a table for 2 and we were rudely told we can just sit anywhere. So we went to the back sheltered outdoor area and sat for about 10 minutes. No menus brought out, no water brought out. Just this 1 waitress cleaning tables in our area before I had to ask if we ordered at the counter. She seemed annoyed we even interrupted what she was doing and said no I'll just finish cleaning up first. Comes back we still don't have menus so we had to ask for one which seemed like a massive hassle. After we'd taken out order she came back with spray and wipe and started spraying the table and ourselves while our phones were also on the tables. No apologies at all. The side of bacon I requested with my Smashed Avo cost $7 for 2 rashers of cold, tough, chewie streaky bacon. As we were leaving we got a brownie my partner asked if it was okay to swap it for a different one. (brownie was not touched by us. Simply opened the bag that was handed to us and looked at it) Kodee who served us said no, that once it's out of the fridge it's too late to change it over and then scoffed at us for even asking as we left. Absolutely rude and disgraceful behaviour from all the staff we...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOne by oneā,ā¦.. Iām working through Melbourneās best cafes. My latest adventure has brought me to Keilor, a suburb north-west of the city. Itās where David, Joseph and Marco opened up their cafĆ©, One by One, over 2 years ago. What began as a pop-up coffee spot, serving coffee through a 1m x 1m window, has now grown into a full cafĆ©. The name is a nod to their humble beginning; a time when they planned what is today, a welcoming cafĆ© designed by a young carpenter who was a customer at that time. The menu offers a āmodern Australian cafĆ© fareā, with the usual favourites high on the list. Thereās the colourful Acai bowl garnished with protein balls; Eggs Benny with seeded mustard hollandaise; and a selection of salads and burgers for those feeling like a wholesome lunch. Credit goes to the chefs for this work of art in a bowl. I definitely appreciated the fresh fruits and house made protein balls. Itās wonderful to see more and more cafes championing gluten free and vegan dishes as staple parts of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAn absolutely horrible experience. I do not recommend this place for anyone with young children. I came here with two children and was met with sarcastic, rude and unhelpful remarks by a member of staff. This member of staff had red coloured hair and may have been in his 30s. This particular member of staff was untoward and rude when he said to me as I quote āyou know you can get thrown out of here?ā as I was getting the children ready to leave, and as children are children, may not always be on best behaviour and did NOT disrupt any of the customers in any way. Then he said ājust joking!ā. I do not take this in any way as a joke, and felt quite upset that a mother with children cannot feel welcome in a public space to enjoy a treat with her kids!? I felt rushed, out of the place by staff, unwelcome and didnāt appreciate the general lack of hospitable customer service. I will never return...
