Oppa Kitchen isn't fancy by any means. It's a long, narrow space with a modern, almost industrial feel. But it has a certain charm - like a cool little hole-in-the-wall. I snagged a seat downstairs and instantly loved the vibe. There was Korean pop music playing softly in the background, and fun posters plastered on the walls. The menu is pretty straightforward - Korean classics like bibimbap, bulgogi, and japchae. I went for the spicy pork bulgogi rice bowl, and it did not disappoint. The pork was beautifully tender and flavorful, the veggies were perfectly crisp, and the fried egg on top tied it all together. It wasn't the most mind-blowing Korean food I've ever had, but it was exactly what I needed - delicious, comforting, and a good portion size. Overall, Oppa Kitchen is a great casual spot for a quick and tasty Korean fix. It's not a place for a fancy date night, but it's perfect for a solo lunch or a catch-up with friends. Plus, the prices are super reasonable, which is always a win in my book!

🙂🐔 I almost wanted to rate this place a point higher, but it's quite early for me to do so, based on eating just one dish. Read on to find out more. 🍟🤞🏼 I ordered a Large Boneless Chicken Soy Garlic ($21.71) on Uber Eats. I wasn't all impressed when I opened the box. The fried chicken looked a little on the drier side, and it was. Don't get me wrong, fried chicken isn't supposed to be the juiciest in the bunch, but these ones had more of the coating and the chicken felt a bit lesser. A small serving of coleslaw with spicy mayonnaise didn't help much. The chicken wasn't bad, but it could've been so much better. The soy-garlic sauce didn't coat the pieces well, and a good portion of it was at the bottom, which sucked. Other places do a much better job with this dish, so it pains me to rate it low. 📉🙏🏽 I hope my first experience was just a one-off thing, and I'd like to dine here and hope I've a better experience next time.

One of our go-to Korean places in Melbourne. Small informal dining which is a welcoming spot when you want to pop in on a weekday evening after a busy day. Value for money, easy ordering, good variety, and great quality. The boneless chicken (L) is very generous, crispy chicken with a tasty sauce. My only criticism is that the slaw portion is a little small and would benefit from being slightly larger! Also, the chicken cutlet curry, the katsu is super thin and crispy but still juicy, quite a fragrant curry sauce, portion also very generous. There's lots of other options available, including vegetarian Service is always very friendly and attentive topping up water when needed. Also, have lots of takeaway options for reasonable prices if you don't fancy dining in. Recommended dish: Boneless chicken with rice cake and wedge plus rice.

I dropped by Oppa Kitchen on Swanston Street for a quick takeaway and ordered the Boneless Chicken – Sweet & Chili flavour. It was crispy, saucy and full of flavour, exactly what I was craving. The portion was just right, with just the right balance of heat and sweetness and the chicken stayed juicy inside. Definitely one of the better Korean fried chicken spots in Melbourne!

Is the fried chicken good? Yes, really good! The Sweet & Chili boneless chicken was crunchy on the outside and perfectly cooked inside. The sauce had a nice kick without being too spicy and the glaze coated the chicken evenly. It wasn’t overly greasy either, which was a bonus.

How are the portion sizes? They have two sizes - S and L. I would not say it is a filling solo meal even with side options like pickled radish and coleslaw, so I would suggest getting something else if you are hungry.

What’s the vibe like inside? Fun and casual! The place has a cool neon-lit Korean street food vibe, with upbeat music and colourful wall art. It’s a great place for a quick lunch or casual dinner with friends.

Is service good? Yes, the staff were quick and polite, even though it was busy. The food came out super fast. I would say it is great for takeaway - service was efficient and prompt.

Would you come back? Definitely. I’d love to try some of the other flavours next time, maybe Soy Garlic or Spicy BBQ. But the Sweet & Chili Boneless Chicken was a solid first choice and left a great impression.

On a busy Sunday, we decided to tantalize our taste buds with some really good Korean food and we narrowed down Oppa Korean kitchen.

Decent variety of dishes in menu and we penned Bibimbap mushroom and tofu and Grilled chicken curry rice with a Hite Beer.

Food was served within 13 minutes of ordering and the server who placed the dishes literally had his fingers inside the main course plate (which contains food) while putting it down which was shocking for us to figure out why. Obviously Smile is not their forte as it was too much pressure which they might be going through, which is understandable but c'mon these are basics mate....

As I had my first bite and looked around, our server was waffling his hair which was kind of surprise for us that are we having Food in restaurant or what....

But that's not all, they forgot to serve us our only beer so we had to request them to serve that too as the amount was paid in advance, which they got it real quick and no apologies though for the delay....

Perhaps coming to food, it was very well cooked, meat was tender and full marks for the entire preparation for grilled chicken, spot on. For the Bibimbap, it was okay types (personal opinion) as I have had better ones in Melbourne itself.

So entire experience was saved by Kitchen but somehow it was led down by service staff, hope this review comes out as an eye opener for them and management to understand the...

I used to come to this place often a few years ago when I used to work in the city and it has always been a decent meal. However, this time around it was far from that.

I ordered the grilled beef curry and when I got it half the dish was cold and did not look fresh at all. The texture of the curry was gelatin like and the grilled beef was chewy like leather. My wife's dish didn't look or smell too fresh either and was also half cold. We ate it anyway which was a big mistake.

As a result from it I got a really bad case of gastro the next day (the day before Christmas Eve) which lasted 4 days straight and I felt like dying. I also missed out on important dinners with friends and family during Christmas because of it which is very disappointing.

They also tend to seat all their diners at the front of the restaurant so it looks like it's busy rather than spacing people out evenly across the restaurant which should be the case during a pandemic.

I will definitely not be coming back here ever again and will advise friends and family to avoid this place like the plague. The quality of their food and their service has dramatically gone downhill...
