1st time visitor and what an appaling visit today. Ordered 3 simple meals, scrambled eggs, mussels and fries with mayonnaise. 35 minutes later we received scrambled eggs which looked like it came from a packet - one solid piece of rubber. Mussels were excellent. The chips were ordered with Mayonnaise but served with tomato sauce and green aioli. When we asked for the mayonnaise we ordered we were told the restaurant does not stock any. When it came to paying at the till I looked at the menu and queried why the menu said it has mayonnaise on certain dishes but we were told mayonnaise is not available. The manager said oh thats not mayonnaise its different mayonnaise??? I said what do you mean different, response its different. I said its either chipotle or aioli or peri mayonnaise for example but if written mayonnaise then its mayonnaise, if its different then what is it. The very rude manageress said you should have asked for ketchup, I said we dont like ketchup which was served with the fries already. She then chose to argue that fries arent served with ketchup but ours were. I was then shot down my the rude manageress that thats the way it is, thats how the chefs writes his menu and she walked off refusing to speak with me saying our mayonnaise is different mayonnaise. I then go to pay for the bill and notice it to be higher on the eftpos machine than the actual bill. I said is there a surcharge to pay by card and girl says yes, so I query why thats not advertised anywhere, her response yes thats the way it is. $82plus for a very substandard lunch and appaling service by management. I have been in the hospitaity game for 35 years and to have 1. A manager walk way from a customer 2. Not advertise extra charges passed on to the customer and 3. Write a menu that does not depict what is being served especially in the food intolerance world we currently live in is just beyond my comprehension. Having been in the hospitality arena for all of my working life I tend not to leave reviews I just won't ever return or promote a business if I receive bad service however this place just took the biscuit...
Read moreAmazing little cafe right on the foreshore!!
Positives were: Food was amazing! Eggs perfectly cooked and the bacon was thick slices grilled nicely. The banana bread really packed a punch flavour wise, beautifully balanced with soft fluffy banana bread that had a crispy crust. Delicious Happy attentive staff! Pet Friendly (this is always an added bonus for me as we love to take our dog) and the staff were very friendly to our dog. Outside dining that was covered, with heaters that didn't obstruct the amazing view. It was also nicely furnished and felt like a continuation of the cafe itself. Fresh vibe! The music was nice but not obnoxious. Living plants were everywhere which really gave the place a great atmosphere! Very much an attention to detail kinda place. Quick service!! Large (free) parking area. However it does fill up quickly as there is also the local pool and yacht club next door.
Normally I add a dislike section where most things are nitpicking. I was going to add that the drinks we ordered whilst really yum didn't come out at the same time. However when our food came and I asked where the missing beverage was, there was full apologies and it soon followed. Then who I assume was the manager came over to again apologize and removed it from the bill. We were not expecting that but extremely grateful that they showed care for the dining experience. So this review is all positives - great work guys we...
Read moreI used to come here pre covid. The Cuban sandwich was something to behold and one of my all time favourite things that I would happily drive from Mornington to enjoy. Then they seemed to change hands and menus , but I decided to check back in and see if by chance they were doing it again and there it was in the website menu so off I drove to check it out. But no, the menu on the website does not reflect their current menu at all so no Cuban. I was left to choose from the usual breakfast type options and settled on the eggs Benny and some hash browns. The hash browns had been pan fried and as they tend to do had broken apart, not a hanging offence but not visually pleasing when presented with something that looks like it’s been dropped on the floor. The eggs Benedict looked really good. Sadly, when I cut into the eggs they were dry. There’s really just no coming back from this simple mistake is there? I can’t for the life of me work out how a cook cant get a poached egg right when there were only like six other people in there? Honestly the only thing I can think of is they were precooked or something?! Sadly this place used to be pumping any day of the week and the old fella running it had his finger on the pulse. This place is now nearly empty and you just start to notice all the little things like the filthy glass with bird poo on the balcony. Service was nice enough and chai...
