I have been here once 5 months ago and my experience was above average but what i saw this weekend indicated to me the quality of food as plummeted. I think i can best describe the food being as if i got food from a school canteen but that would be insulting to school canteens. They dont show all the prices of what is available, for example, i got a Winner burger, i was asked if i want chips on the side, i figured this was apart of the meal anyway but it wasnt and it cost me an extra $3. When my meal came i got 10 chips (at most) all different sizes but consistently pale and undercooked. I think this is dishonest and a diservice to the customer but i digress. The winner Burger is what i recall getting 5 months ago because it comes with an Egg, 5 months ago i had a juicy suculant beef patty on there, this time i got a flattened dry rissole which was by the end of it made me feel ill. the salads on the burger didnt give off an ounce of freshness and the bun was half the size of the ingrediants put on, i cant tell if this is by choice or they ran out of normal sized buns because i thought this was comical. One other person i was with had a snitz burger and the chicken was so thin it was basically just crumb, for how much these already cost it felt really cheap what was provided. Bit of a red flag is if Cutlery is dirty still which on Saturday my knife was dirty.
Atmosphere wise they are in a good spot, outdoor dining is the way as the tables inside either seat 2 people or 10? Didnt feel too welcoming for 3-4 people. Some staff just stand around like they arent too sure what to do? Made it a little uncomfortable standing at the counter waiting for anyone to serve me when an employee is 3 feet next to me staring into the void. The Coffee was fine, having been to all cafes in Hastings, Mornington, Somerville ect i cant see myself ever returning to Sandwich King Cafe.
Overall, i do not recommend, go somewhere that values your money and cares about...
Read moreNot quite sure how this cafe could be worse. Setup of tables and chairs that look to have been left over from several other business with random paraphernalia everywhere. Our group was ignored by all 3 staff on arrival. Ordered a lactose free milkshake with no icecream for our nephew only to find out half way through that they had made our coffees lactose free instead. No apologies, just an offer to make another milkshake. Bit late, don’t you think? Resulted in an emergency trip to the chemist. It would have been somewhat helpful for there to be a toilet for him to use but to no avail, the toilet door doesn’t shut. Thankfully we have a nespresso machine and food that won’t try to poison our family at home.
Edit: In response to your message today- Unfortunately we were too concerned for the welfare of our nephew to worry about your hurt feelings. No one even asked if he was ok. Check your toilet. The door does not lock and anyone can walk into it from the rear of your business. It was not safe for our 11year old nephew to use. It appears neither you or your employees consider the feelings of your customers and their general welfare. Actions speak louder than words. Look up what accountability actually means. People leave reviews to inform you of their experience at your business. This is not the place for you to just pick apart anyone who has anything negative to say about your cafe. You say you care about small business. You’re doing a great job of putting yourself out of business in a short span of time. She told me the total was 44.5 and i had the exact amount on my card. My card declined twice and on the second time she told me i only get 1 more turn because she gets charged for a declined transaction? She was a bit rude about it even though i knew i had 44.5 on card. Turns out she was charging me $46.25 no wonder it wouldnt work. We also asked for no tomato on the burger and caramel in my coffee but neither was done even though im sure I paid for it. Wasnt going to complain though incase of looking like a brat.
