I write this review with much disappointment and anger on what I had witnessed and experienced and wonder why there are still some people out there who are running a business can resort to such behaviors.
If there is a negative rating, I would give this restaurant a negative star all over and over. You will understand once you have read my story:
On 21/1/23, my family had our lunch at this restaurant. After our meal I went up and queued to pay for our meals (Pho and Broken rice) - which was not great at all. The rice they used was old, hard rice!
There was a senior man in front of me who was paying for his meal. He gave a $100 bill to this young cashier (a guy) but the change this guy gave was much less than what the senior was supposed to receive. The senior asked why he got such little change back to which this cashier glared angrily at him. The cashier said the senior only paid $50 (but in fact I saw him gave a $100 note to the Cashier). The Senior spoke gently and softly to say he paid $100. He even showed his wallet that was all he had. The Cashier said, "No!" you paid $50!" At this point, I had to step in and firmly said, "He paid you $100!". The Cashier was taken a back and had no choice but retracted and reluctantly returned the extra $50!
What a dishonest person he is! He ought to be sacked and reprimanded. I wondered how many customers he had already cheated using this tactic! Only God knows.
After the senior left and thanking me for voicing for him, the very same cashier tried to play me out as well.
I asked him how much was our meal and he said $50, without even giving me the receipt. I questioned him that I am paying cash and would expect a 5% discount and asked him for the receipt. Then he reluctantly gave me $2.50 change. My meal in fact costs $47.50 and this fellow just rounded up and ask for $50. Another dishonest way of treating their customers!
Please be careful with this restaurant. They have hired some really bad people who will go out to cheat customers off their money.
We don't need to go there anymore as they are much better Vietnamese restaurants elsewhere to go to and support. At least they are genuine, honest and friendlier places to dine in and their food is so much better.
Never ever will we dine at the place - ever again! There have lost a few valuable...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePho Minh Long has always been the best restaurant in Mitcham from my perspective but this afternoon around 2:40pm onwards, service was very different from what I normally experience and I was disappointed. We received every meal we ordered except for my uncleās won ton soup. It was the one thing he was really looking forward to. He travelled from the west to come to Mitcham today and we had just been to a funeral. We waited a while for his soup to arrive. We were patient because we knew they were short staffed but no soup came and all of a sudden the staff went on their break. They sat down at a big table and ate lots of food without serving my uncle the food that he ordered. The rest of us were eating our meal though and it felt wrong. We chose to forget about the soup and just share whatever else we ordered. Later when we finished eating and talked about taking away our leftover food, a staff member all of a sudden brought my uncle his won ton soup and we had to awkwardly say that we have to go. Ended up packing the soup for take away as well. Not sure why they sat down enjoying their own meal before they finished serving us. Would feel better if they just let us know we came in too close to break time and we wont be able to be served if they have to take their break right on the dot because itās a bad look to serve some of a customers food then go off to eat your own food. The old man who is usually working at night and most the waitresses I am familiar with werenāt there today but Iāve had amazing service from them when theyāve been present. Customer service does make a difference and I hope not to make any negative reviews about Pho Minh Long again :( on the bright side, the vietnamese white coffee is always the best here. Presentation for my skewers was...

The last straw is when we were given a bag of rotten bean shoots to go with our pho for takeaway. Surely they would have checked that the bean shoots were fresh before giving it to the customers? While I was given a replacement, they clearly were not happy with it. Their excuse was they were given a bad batch of bean shoots that morning, but they should have explained there no fresh bean shoots when I called to order? Never again
We are local to this restaurant and frequent this place often for the past 6 years. I find dining there better as you are ensured you have all ingredients necessary to enhance the taste of pho. However, we have always done takeaways and there have been a few times when we were either not given the accompaniments (lettuce and dipping sauce) with the spring rolls, or the entire pack of bean shoots, sauces, mint with phot, or most frequently, the mint was missing for the pho in our takeaway yesterday. More care should be taken to ensure everything is accounted for.
As for flavour, I find the broth inconsistent at times. Don't get me wrong - it is good on most occasions, but there have been times when you can taste the muckiness of the bones, or that the stock is super salty.
Spring rolls are becoming smaller in size too, and the condiments given are salad leaves and dipping sauce (which by the way, used to contain some shredded carrots).
Tables are sticky and the whole place is just dark and dingy. So just be aware.
I guess being the only Viet restaurant in the area, they are okay to satisfy your cravings. It's just disappointing to see the gradual reduction of ingredients in takeaways over the years. PS: Check you have everything when...
