I wish I read the reviews before having dinner here because all the bad reviews are spot on. It’s like the cooks have never eaten Mexican food before. The atmosphere is quite nice but the food is a total let down and very expensive. They don’t use spices, seasoning or herbs. Most of the ingredients are the same as what you’d find at the supermarket (el de paso tortilla, iceberg lettuce, frozen shredded cheese, sour cream & el de paso salsa, super bland). Really disappointed in the lack of taste. The $35 fajita wasn’t even seasoned with salt and pepper. The fajita had the tiniest teaspoon of guacamole hidden on top of the lettuce (that lacked acidity). The food is so much better and tastier at GYG, at least they use pickles, relishes, sauces & parsley.

Great little Mexican cantina in a corner pocket of high st that filled our evening handsomely as a random walk in! Captivating and dark-lit ambiance inside with an awesome bar setting with old Mexican nostalgia decor. You start off with complimentary corn chips and a spicy salsa to get you going. We ordered a bottle of sangria (so fruitful and delish), chicken fajitas and a large nachos with all the condiments. Plenty for 2. Food was cooked perfectly and super delish, just wish there was more tortillas with the fajitas for the amount Of food you get, lol we could have ordered more but opted to use our corn chips To collect the food instead. All in all it was a lovely filling meal. Thanks for a great feast.

This place is pretty average. I recently ordered a burrito for take away one Friday evening, it was a sad and thin looking burrito with rice and beans on the side for $26. I have just given it another go as I love Mexican food and this is our local. Sure the drinks are large and look exciting but they are made from a mix. The food is very average and expensive for what arrives on the plate. The picture is of a kids deluxe nachos that we paid $12 for. Sorry that is some Doritos on a plate that has microwave melted cheese on top. We did upgrade to get the sour cream and guacamole ($11 for just the plate of chips with melted cheese). Avoid.

Used to love pjs in thornbury. It was a regular family outing. For whatever reason we have not been there for a few years. The food and atmosphere is great and unchanged.. but like everywhere prices have jumped !! It's just not good value. $17 for a tasteless frozen margarita? Fajitas at$32 with another$6 if you want daks cream cheese... you can put up with high prices if everything is good. We'll it wasn't.... restaurant was not busy on a Friday night booking. We sat down. Waited 15 mins for drink order.. no offer of water for table... waited another 15 mins for ordering food. Entrees came out fairly quick filled by drinks. Cleared table and everything was probably OK by that stage.. nearly an hour passed for main meals. It was a party of 6.. not too complex... but they brought out 5 meals.. the sixth one being just normal taco trio took another 5 minutes... but disturbing for that person... still no water... went down further... cleared the table while one person (me) was still eating. They even tried to take my side while I was still eating and building fajitas in my hand. I find nothing more rude than clearing a table while some are still eating. While the food was ok. Smaller and more expensive than before.. we all expect that these days... the service was really bad. I remember in the past talking with the owner and it was a great experience.. he was still there but did not engage at all......

Worst restaurant we've ever been to. From the outside you would think that you would get a nice meal here. WRONG! It took about 20 mins for someone to take our order after we had already spent about 10 mins deciding. And the only reason someone came over is because I started looking hangrily towards staff. Meanwhile the waitress was having a 10 minute chat with a table to the left of us and could see that I was looking around, frustrated. Our meals came out about 20 mins later which I guess isn't terrible, but still not great considering what we got. My partners meal was piping on the outside and cold on the inside, it looked like a dogs dinner. My burrito (which set me back $20) was something that a 5 year old child could prepare. And absolutely tasteless. Even salt couldn't fix it. And all this time, our drinks were no where to be seen. We were both parched when our meals arrived as we hadn't even got any water yet. I asked where the drinks were when our food came out and he said soon. 10 mins later I was that thirsty I had to go up to the bar and get our drinks myself. What a shame this so called restaurant is. This is the first time I've ever left a review because I feel so utterly disappointed. We couldn't really afford to go out tonight but we decided to get out of the house anyway, and to have to waste our money on such a terrible experience is utterly...

I booked over the phone a dinner for my family, mentioning on the phone only (not when I was at the resteraunt) that it was my wifes birthday. Lovely atmosphere, great waiters (no qr codes!! - you speak to an actual person!) and delicious food. great evening.

Was about to pay for our meal, when the staff said, no sit down please, and then bought out a massive desert and candle for my wife for her birthday. unannounced, i didn't mention in the restaurant it was her bday, only on phone pre booking.

absolutely made the night and the level of detail and attention was a welcome site in todays world of customer service. - needless to say I left a tip ;)

This meal was something we will remember for a long time. even my 7 year old said that the restaurant was friendly and he wants to go back!

well done to PJ's. a lovely evening and looking forward to returning. you outdid yourselves, and it didnt go un...
