Second time dining in. First time not great but second time even worse. I try to support local places as I know they can struggle and so many closing recently. Tonight we absolutely got no service unless we initiated it. There were only 2 other groups in the restaurant. It was so bad that we actually ordered a takeaway pizza to collect on our way home as we waited for someone to appear in this shop so we could pay for our entrees and leave. Sad thing was we proffered our feedback but the 2 ladies were adamant that the onus was on us to get their attention if we wanted anything. Not sure why you would dine in when there is no service. The $4 per person corkage is a little steep - especially when you have to ask for a wine glass and there is no ice bucket. They do not sell alcohol. All in all absent service. We shared the spring rolls and scallion pancakes for appetisers: The spring rolls were beautifully crunchy and the scallion pancakes were flaky (but didn’t crumble) - something I have never seen before. The entrees with rice were plenty of food for one person (and very affordable), and I even had some for takeaway. They have lots of clearly-marked vego options as well which I appreciated (the ma po tofu is great!).

Read moreAs someone who has had his fair share of Melbourne Chinese food, it’s not often that I am blown away by the Chinese food in front of me. In fact, I am one of those people who are always chasing that Chinese-food high when you eat something really special.
I’m sure you can see where this review is going as QQ Dumpling is my new favourite and is what has been missing in my life culinarily speaking.
