What a find!!!! Don't be put off by the impression at first glance - Chapati could be mistaken for a groovy gelato cafe, rather than a seriously decadent Indian taste extravaganza!! We chose this restaurant because it was one of the very few that have some seriously grown up alcohol-free beverage options - including both alcohol removed wine and botanic wine alternative, something rare to find in mainstream restaurants. But, man, beverage selection aside, what a treat! This is Indian cuisine overloaded with divine mixes of sauces, chutneys and flavours we haven't experienced before. We asked for assistance in ordering, and the waiter did not disappoint, helping us design a dining experience where each course complimented each other to perfection. The samosa chaat was to die for! The pastry was light and buttery but still crispy, and rather than being served dry on a plate, they came on a bowl overloaded with sauces - creamy, spicy, sweet and pungent, all flavours complimenting each other to perfection. Seriously! Heaven!! We also had lamb cutlets which were bursting with salty herbs and came with a delicious green dipping sauce. We dared to stray from our usual beloved butter chicken on the recommendation of a chicken and chickpea dish, which was an absolute kicker. The naan was light, fluffy and layered in butter and the saffron rice, delicate and aromatic. During the course of the evening, Arjan - the owner, came out and introduced himself. Full of enthusiasm, vision and charisma, it all makes sense how this little gem of a restaurant came to life from his imagination, innate talent and passion for creating unique flavour experiences. Feeling very lucky to have Chapati in our neighbourhood! We will be back...
Read moreGreat hospitality, welcoming owners, awesome starters, and average tasting mains! We booked in advance for dinner, and the table was booked as requested. We were greeted warmly upon arrival. We ordered chicken seekh kebab and pav-bhaji to start with. The chicken seekh was extremely tender, juicy, and full of flavour. Pav bhaji was good but pav was soaked in too much butter, and kind of suppressed the flavour and our hunger! We had goat biryani, okra, and Chettinad chicken for mains with tandoori roti, mirchi chapati, and garlic naan. Goat biryani was just okay as we found it too oily and less flavour. Okra was a hit as it was perfectly cooked and tasted awesome! Chettinad chicken was again average. Mirchi chapati was okay, and liked tandoori and garlic naan. For our oil-dripped biryani, we ordered plain rice to mix and level it. The starters are served with mixed salad, and dip. The biryani comes with raita. The customer service was quick and great. The owners are friendly and also have a charming way of communicating to assist you with the order. The atmosphere of the restaurant is welcoming and cosy, with the interiors well-decorated. Could sense the bar at the restaurant is well-equipped and the owner has some great cocktails recipe up his sleeve, I heard!! The restaurant also has a outdoor dining area at the back which was not open for the customers that day. This is a fine-dining restaurant that serves halal meat and chicken. Only downside is the high price with...
Read moreMy visit to Chapati was a complete disaster. The ambiance was unpleasant with uncomfortable metal stools and a chaotic atmosphere reminiscent of a fish market, devoid of any background music to mask the noise. The food quality was shockingly poor, with chicken tikka and chicken momos that seemed to have been hastily thrown together from supermarket shelves and served with a hefty markup. To top it off, my chicken tikka was raw, raising serious concerns about the competence of the kitchen staff. While the waiter did apologize for the mistake, there was no attempt to rectify the situation or offer any form of compensation. Instead, I was still charged the full amount for the subpar dish. It's clear that Chapati prioritizes profit over the well-being of its customers, and I will never be returning to this establishment. Later, I finished my dinner at Aangan, which was a much more enjoyable and...
