Last night we went to dinner at Racetrack cafe and it wasn’t the first time, it was another of many times previously and will most certainly be going back again. we have been going for the past 10 years or so, through the different owners and chefs. We have always had a good experience. Last night however, stood out as one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Rommel Sihoming has extended himself from the upfront maitre d to now running the kitchen as head chef and is producing some of the best food, both in taste and presentation that I had been lucky enough to experience throughout 100’s of restaurants in the past 30 years or so of dining. I really must reiterate that I put Racetrack cafe as one of the best restaurants not only in the south east but in Victoria. I want to share my view in the hope other people with a palette for beautiful food in a cozy environment, (yes in Cranbourne) that now I rate as our number one dinner restaurant destination. Congratulations Rommel and to the staff who go out of their way, are knowledgeable and professional service waiters for giving us another look at the great food and service you can provide. Admittingly, price is up there a little, after all it’s not a standard cafe, but to produce the finest foods from locally sourced suppliers, I of all people don’t mind paying for delicious food and impeccable service. Well done Racetrack, I hope word gets out that your restaurant continues to improve and everyone should experience it for themselves. Cheers, see...
Read moreFantastic food and service. I took one of my besties who is very sick as part of her bucket list. We wined and dined laughed and cried. But best of all we had a beautiful lunch. I would recommend this restaurant any day. My friend had the flathead fillets 3 of them with chops and salad. The salad was to die for. Fresh and crunchy and cleansing of the palate. I had the slow cooked pork back ribs in a spicy but not over powering ranch style sticky sauce. Oh my was it sticky!!!! Yummy I had it up to my elbows. Even a two year old couldn't do as good a job as me. We sat while we digested and rested our laurels. Not disturbed or rushed even though inside was full. They were very busy for a midweek lunchtime. Which I love to see when the food is special and the staff just want you to enjoy your day. We had a chatty little guy serving our table. Nothing was too much for him. He came out twice with fresh ice for me as it was quite warm and it was melting fast. We cleared our plates gave a large tip to our happy crappie who was more than grateful. Great day had by all. Loved it would go back time...
Read moreWent for breakfast this morning. Had previously been to this place but it now has new owners. Please do not waste your time and money in this establishment. Coffee was ordinary, tasted like it was made in a drip filter machine. I ordered breakfast, bubble and squeak patty with poached eggs. The bubble and squeak patty was from the frozen section of the supermarket and the eggs were poached until they were rock hard. The hollandaise accompanying was a tasteless thick gelatinous mass, I would doubt that it was made in the cafe. The food was so bad that I was unable to eat it. The waitress asked what was wrong with the food, o explained that the eggs were overcooked and that I thought the patty would be made in house, her response, "some people ask for their eggs to be well done and that the patty was indeed a frozen supermarket item. The appalling food coupled with the elevator music played at a very loud volume made this breakfast one that I won't forget but for all the wrong reasons. The prices that they charge are consistent with quality restaurants but unfortunately, this place is not...
