Thai Cottage — Restaurant in Melbourne

Food was pretty good, but that’s where it ends unfortunately. Portions were so small. Yes you pay less at this place, but I'd consider it expensive compared to the portions you get. We were still hungry afterwards so went elsewhere for a top up. Service was terrible. Food came out at a separate time for everyone. 25 minutes between the first meal and last meal that came out. We asked for all food including entree together, then they came back and said they put someone's order in front of us so they would give us entree and we would have to wait for mains. Final dish was late because they forgot about it - at least they were honest and apologised. Atmosphere was very poor - door delivery people coming in and out the whole time and it made sitting near the door super cold because the door doesn't close properly. No music playing or anything so you're just listening to other people talk. Probably wouldn't go again. Have had food delivered from here multiple times but probably wouldn't...

I've been a regular diner at Thai Cottage for just over 10 years! The staff are always welcoming, friendly & polite. I've proudly introduced many of my family & friends to Thai Cottage & no one is ever disappointed. The food is amazing, always cooked lovely & fresh & presented beautifully. Sometimes when I'm picking up a big take away order, the lovely & very accommodating staff offer to help me out to my car which is always greatly appreciated. The staff know me so well, they know what I'm going to order when I'm dining in! Thai Cottage is always so busy, so it's best to make a reservation to avoid disappointment. Last but not least, my favourite dish is the Satay chicken! :-) Also, great location, free car parking & a very reasonably priced menu. We dined in the restaurant. The service was fine. The quality of the food was ok. The problem with this place is the portions are too small. Way too small. Yes the prices are on the cheaper side, however the prices for those sized portions is still too high.

Over $50 in food and we still needed to stop elsewhere because he are still hungry. The atmosphere in the restaurant is poor - customers walking in and or sitting near the front waiting for their takeout. No music was played through the exisiting music system. Also, I could sense tension between the staff.

Would I ever dine here again. No. If you don’t mind small portions, lacking value but like Thai food, the food quality is sufficient. Food was fresh, vegetables fresh. Just everything so small and expensive...
