Last Saturday the 1st May I celebrated by 21+1 Birthday at Raqwa café and beer garden. Prior to this mum and I went there for a lovely Sunday brunch, it was their food and the atmosphere that drew us in to deciding that this was the venue for us. And we were not disappointed! What else can I say other than AMAZING. It was their first big function since the new owners and renovation took place. Needless to say it was a success. The venue was amazing, such a hidden gem just off Plenty road. The food was so delicious, what an array of different flavors and options and the staff absolutely exceptional. From their welcoming attitudes to their above and beyond service. The owners both assured me that the night would be a success and I need not stress. Turns out they were right, not without their amazing and diligent help of course. They both helped design the amazing menu for the night, helped me and my mum decorate the venue and even continued to pump up balloons after we left because we were running late. On the night they helped my guests navigate through what each food was and even when back into the kitchen to cater for my gluten free and nut free friends and family, providing them with a fresh meal to ensure they were also able to enjoy the lovely food. For the party they provided a big projector that was presented on the brick wall on the building next to where they are located, this allowed for beautiful photos to be presented throughout the night. They also have this lovely swing towards the back of the venue that provided us with a beautiful photo backdrop. Honestly 10/10 cannot recommend this place enough, amazing venue , great staff and reasonably priced...

Words can’t do justice to the extraordinary experience I had at this Middle Eastern gem. From the moment I stepped inside, I knew I was in for something special. The ambiance, warm and inviting, sets the stage for what can only be described as a transcendent dining experience.

The food? Pure magic. Each dish was a masterpiece—flavors layered in such a way that every bite was a revelation. The hummus was impossibly creamy, with a velvety texture and a hint of smoky tahini that danced on my taste buds. The kebabs—oh, the kebabs—succulent, juicy, perfectly spiced, and grilled to absolute perfection. But it didn’t stop there; the rice pilaf was a fragrant work of art, fluffy and aromatic, with a perfect balance of spices and herbs.

And don’t even get me started on the lamb. Melt-in-your-mouth tender, it was infused with rich, complex flavors that made each bite feel like a celebration. The spices were bold yet harmonious, a symphony of warmth and depth that transported me straight to the heart of the Middle East.

The attention to detail in every dish was evident, and you could taste the love and passion that went into each preparation. The service was impeccable—attentive without being intrusive, offering recommendations that perfectly complemented our meal.

This isn’t just food; this is an experience, a journey through the Middle East’s rich culinary heritage. Every bite told a story, every flavor an invitation to explore deeper. If you're looking for a meal that will ignite all your senses and leave you craving more, look no further. This place is nothing short of...

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

If you're looking for an authentic, heartwarming Middle Eastern dining experience, look no further than Raqwa. This hidden gem is run by the incredible Safi, a hardworking and passionate man who not only serves up some of the best food in Melbourne but also dedicates his time to coaching the South Melbourne U23s soccer team.

From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with warmth and hospitality that makes you feel like family. The aroma of freshly grilled meats, fragrant spices, and homemade bread fills the air, promising an unforgettable meal. Every dish is prepared with love and tradition—whether it’s the perfectly marinated kebabs, the rich and creamy hummus, or the soul-soothing slow-cooked lamb.

Safi’s commitment to excellence shines through in every bite, and his generosity is evident in the portions and the service. You can tell he puts the same heart into his food as he does into coaching his soccer team—passionate, dedicated, and always striving for the best.

If you want a place with amazing food, a welcoming atmosphere, and the chance to support a hardworking local legend, this is it. Can’t recommend this place enough! 10/10, will...

Came here for the first time it was a little hidden on the side. The customer service was good food was great atmosphere was fantastic quite . Booked In the second time from 6:30 pm and it is a whole different experience the place was fantastic the food was excellent but I would recommend working on the meats more with additional flavour and looking at maybe adding shish taouk chicken rather than the thin strips for the meat and chicken , fruit platters do need to be worked on but the one thing I can say it was clean food so that was a gold star for me. service was on spot i think the place just needs to have a more warm seating with space. the owners are so lovely looking after everyone making sure everyone is happy and they had music great voices great instruments everyone was having a great time I hope this keeps going and I would recommend having nights for people who really enjoy music having audiences just to listen well done and respect to the beautiful Syrian culture ❤️👌🎶

Such a lovely little cafe in the ever cafe growing suburb of Preston. We’ve been here a few times and always found it to be consistently good. The menu is comprehensive and the portion sizes good. On this day we had a mixture of a burger, fruit bowl, smashed avo and poached eggs. Everything was tasty and presented with style. Staff were ever so helpful and always make dining enjoyable. I have to say that these small cafes sprinkled around Melbourne are often producing high quality food and their decor and staff make for an enjoyable dining experience. Note: kid friendly. Good parking out the front. Note: photos are from my first visit and not recent. 🥑🍅 d e b i 🥚🥞
