Ricketts Point Cafe has been my favorite cafe to go because if it’s services and food quality. I had a die for Thai beef salad when the first time I have as the beef was sliced to the right thickness, texture was soft melting in the mouth, tasted the chargrill on the outer layer of the meat and was warm in the salad. I told a wait staff that it was the best Thai beef salad I ever have.
I went back for the same Thai beef salad choice on my second time, it was a disappointment as the beef was dry, chewy and cold like it was pre cooked way before the order. I told a waiter to give my feedback to the kitchen about the Thai beef salad was disappointed as it was not the same as my previous experience.
I went back the third time and this time I was very specific with my request about the slices of beef for my Thai beef salad to cook rare trying to get back the softness and warm beef on the salad. Disappointedly the sliced of beef was dry, chewy and cold. The salad did not have the right amount of dressing. The whole plate of tasteless.
I told a wait staff that I have to send the plate back to the kitchen as it was not up to my expectation. The wait staff apologized and sent my plate to the kitchen. She came back to me offering a choice of refund or order another meal. The kitchen did not prepared another Thai beef salad.
I hope the kitchen did not pre cooked chargrill the beef earlier and rest aside before any order come through. When order comes through the chef or kitchen hand just sliced the beef to put on the salad plate to serve for quick service. That is terrible.
The first time I tasted was the beef was just warm fresh from the chargrill and sliced thinly placed in the salad.
I hope the chef would take this comment seriously as I have tried twice and it was not as good as my first...
Read moreVisited after their 'Renovation' on Saturday 12th February, '22. My girlfriend ordered the 'Pumpkin Ravioli' @ $22.50. The toasted Macadamia Nuts, Crispy Sage & Pecorino Cheese would have been in the inside of the Ravioli, I am assuming. When presented, we thought it very 'strange' that the (6) squares of Ravioli, were 'swimming in 3/4 cup of Butter' and nothing else. A really disappointing dish if you are hungry around lunchtime. My 'Brown Rice Poke Bowl' was a healthy alternative, however, when the majority of the dish is Rice, I would have liked more flavours incorporated into this meal- Like a 'Zing' of Citrus with the Quinoa or a bit of Chilli. The majority of cakes on display really look like they have been 'Bought in by other companies', you know, the standard typical cakes you see everywhere, (slightly boring), -except the Scones. It would be an advantage, if the Menu included some 'Toasted Sandwich' varieties, not just the Bagels/ Baguettes/Focaccia's but some thinner bread varieties, such as 'Toasted Pulled Corn Beef or Pork & Cheese & Cabbage', or 'Ham, Cheese, Pineapple', especially for those who just don't want to eat all that 'Thick Bread'- re other choices. I really thought that after the renovation, that the Menu would also be 'Renovated & improved', -no such luck. The feel here is 'Volume Serving -check in & out and no great connecting with customers'. Not enough choices on the Menu for my liking when you have missed the 'Breakfast Menu' after 12 noon onwards. Wouldn't it be great, if you kept the Breakfast Menu going, because a lot of us would like to order Eggs after 12 noon! Would love more flavours and not such a 'Standard Typical Experience', with small portions, leaves a bitter taste in ones mouth....
Read moreRickett's Point Beaumaris has recently been renovated and we are more than impressed with our experience.
If you haven't been to the area, you wouldn't know how spectacular the view is from the restaurant. Secondly, it's very close to the rock pools, which is absolutely wonderful for the kids to explore.
We visited the rockpools at a higher tide and it was an enjoyable experience. The kids enjoyed collecting in their bucket (to return them before we left) and seeing the range of birds in the area too. The adventures made us hungry and Rickett's Point Beaumaris satisfied us with their great Lagoon Platter.
📷 The Lagoon (Serves 4) - Fried Fish, lemongrass prawns, native spiced calamari, oysters natural, choice of sides, and side of rosemary salt chips.
We had guests with us and chose our sides as Steamed Asian Greens and another bowl of chips. There's a nice selection of salads to choose from. The platter was great value for money and the calamari was a hit. My son was keen to try an oyster for the first time, and he even went back for a second! I was extremely impressed.
Nothing motivates kids more than dessert and other than the yummy range of cakes on display, they also have an ice-cream cabinet. This is also a great spot to pop past for takeaway when in the area for an ice-cream to go. There were also some sorbet options.
Rickett's Point was busy when we visited and they only take bookings for large groups or dinner. We ordered via my phone, but you could also order at the counter. Food was extremely quick. Their deck overlooks the foreshore, but you also wouldn't be disappointed to dine inside, as the large windows will provide a relaxing ambiance too. Rickett's Point Beaumaris was previously known as Rickett's...
