We made a reservation for 9 (8 adults and 1 2yrs baby) at 7:15 PM last Sunday . When we made the reservation or when we were seated, we were not informed about any requirement to order a certain amount of food per person.
We had already had dinner before arriving, so we were too full to have dessert and ordered one tea per person including baby-chino instead. I ordered French Earl Grey tea, and while the other members had already finished half of their teas, I had not yet received mine, so I asked them to check my order. My tea was served last. Just as I started drinking, the female owner came over and complained that we didn't order enough food despite making a group booking, which prevented her from accommodating other customers.
We explained that we were not informed that we needed to order a certain amount of food per person, and we thought ordering one tea per person would be better than ordering a few dishes to share. I also mentioned that I just started drinking my tea as it was served late. She then told us to finish quickly.
About 10 minutes later, a male staff member came and told us, as the owner had explained earlier that we were taking up space for too long without ordering enough food and asked us to leave. There were empty tables, and no one was waiting for tables. I explained again that we were not informed about needing to order food, but he said it was common sense. (Hey ! Not in Australia, mate)
It took a long time for all the teas to be served, and I received my tea just a minute before the female owner came to us, and I had only drunk about a third of it. When I asked what to do with my still hot tea, he said , "FINISH IT."
He then talked to the female owner again, and she came back but stormed off to the kitchen as we tried to explain. We felt a bit upset and immediately paid the bill and left. But guess what! We were charged for an extra cup of French Earl Grey tea. We ordered one tea per person for 9 people, but we were billed for 10.
One of my friends spilled her tea and asked for a hot water refill. They gave her cold water in a red jar instead but still charged us for the tea. Is that right? Thieves!
—————————————————— EDIT: after owner left the replay review;
Could you point out, one by one, like you do replay on reviews what exactly I lied about? I'm being so detailed in explaining the situation that you have nothing to say, so you're the one lying!
We were happy until you and your staff complained us that we didn’t order food and we didn't mind that the tea was served late at all.
Well, you could have explained to us, but we were disappointed with your tone and extremely rudeness which is why I left a review.
If you had told us that we couldn't order drinks only before taking our order, we would have left. But you told us after taking the order and while we were already drinking.
As you mentioned in one of your reviews, your shop is a dessert place, not a profer meal restaurant. Why would you think we would order a meal?
You need to reflect on the quality of your service.
Why is there no mention of the overcharged tea price? Will you be...
Read moreSunday morning, my buddy and I were in the neighborhood to have a quick brunch. As we both were quite stressed about exams and other stuff, we decided to have something that favors our sweet tooth. Crepes - something which reminds me of a South Indian dish called Dosa, I know, it's a long shot comparison.
Ambiance: The place looks quite laid back and calls out the charm of rustic life. The red brick laid walls have some black and white photo frames hanged to it. I feel a bit confused regarding the decor of this place as it looks not well maintained. They have to come up with something to brighten this old soul. It is maybe furnishing or lighting or adding more green. There is this map of France and some newspaper cuttings on a wall, just near to the entrance. However, someone decided to block it off completely by putting a table, and it displays the baguette, danish, croissant, etc.
Service: The service was stunning. We asked the staff to help us out with the right pronunciation of certain things, and she did a fantastic job — prompt and neat service.
Food: We ordered Pim's (Raspberry and Chocolate), Monkey (Banana and Chocolate), Latte, and Soy Flat White. The coffee was great. I am a chocolate lover, and the crepes were lip-smacking. It's worth it. They have other sorts of pancakes which has meat/eggs as toppings. I want to...
Read moreI have been to this cafe before and have had no issues! However, the second time I visited and ate there with my family, I noticed I was given the wrong order, took my order to the staff and she took my plate and used her bare hands to touch my food and add stuff to the crepe and then closed it up with her bare hands and gave it back to me! I was disgusted! And then they proceeded to serve other people without washing their hands. I have no idea if she washed her hands before touching my food. I sat down in shock and watched her serve and make other peoples order’s as well. There was no hand washing done that I could see in between them making other orders. How do they seperate cross contamination with vegetarians and non-vegetarian orders? I asked one of the staff if they are supposed to be wearing gloves while they make the food but the staff just refused and said “they wash their hands before and after each order is made”. This never happened, not even once in the 1.5 hours I was sitting there with my family having breakfast. I am very disappointed and disgusted because it is such a beautiful place to come to with your friends and family. I really hope this review get through to them and they take it as advice to change their ways and be more sanitary and diligent with food care...
