The Royston looks like a pub from the sixties, old, dimly lit and classic. This also is the charm of this place, it's a cosy vibe inside with awesome service from friendly, attentive staff who know their trade. You also have an old school restaurant out back and seating options put side too. The menu here covers all bases with some great twists here too! The cheeseburger spring rolls and a MUST try, the chicken parmigiana is rated one of the best in Melbourne and all flavours are smashing! Serves are decent and are not over priced. Good kids menu as well as a great beer list and wines that won't miss the spot either. The beauty of this place is you can go here to drink with friends and enjoy a great meal and get lost in the conversation as the vibe and ambience makes it so cosy and non distracting. If you're out for a flashy night out, this is not the place, but if you want a great pub, with amazing food, top service and to enjoy the company you're with, this place is 5 stars!

Met up with a mate at 4:30 Thursday. It’s a small front bar, pushing open the door the customers turn to look. Just looks of curiosity, not insular like an old school bar. Already most tables are taken. My mate snagging one next to the toilet. Vague odour of urinal cake but I don’t care. Just good to have a chat and some beers. Royston draught a good session beer. Staff pour it beautifully and are very friendly. Two other friends come and we snag a high table for dinner. The others are excited as it’s steak night. They get some top notch steaks. I order the burger and loved it. The bar fills with people but the staff remain friendly and are quick with the beers. Plenty of tvs to watch the footy on. Had a great night. Recommend it as a tip notch local style bar. Could see out the back a more formal dining area with white tablecloths. Didn’t go out there.

Pub on the corner on river Street in Richmond 3121, Melbourne. Open for late night dining, beautiful pub inside. the atmosphere and vibe were good. walking distance to the Yarra River. food was delicious, recommended to come back, bookings are suggested as this place can get busy. the vibe of the pub is very warm, some of the tables are communal, they feature a range of craft beers, and alcoholic drinks, and their main meal dishes are like kangaroo fillet, porterhouse steak with red wine, pepper sauce or gravy, , roasted pork belly, fish and chips, chili prawn spaghetti, gnocchi ala bolognese, chicken, or eggplant parma, beef burger, vegan chicken burger, and fried chicken burger.

Great food, awesome selection of beers on tab and changing every week. It's a cozy little local with a back seating area for a sit down meal. But don't just bank on walking in and getting a table, they are damn popular in the restaurant, not to fret though as they will be happy to accommodate you in the bar area, where they have seating and the food is the same menu throughout. With a single page menu, you may think they don't have much to offer, do not be fooled. Each and every dish they have worked out to perfection, I would rather a handful of options made to their very best as opposed to a hundred options cooked as best we could as time allowed. With daily specials and events this is a venue you would be misguided not to enter and enjoy.

My partner and I always enjoy popping in here for a date night before heading into town or ducking into the movies.... And I always get a laugh watching her complain about how good the food is, but she's too full to fit anymore.

Proof that you don't have to be 'fancy' or 'overpriced' to be great.

9/Jan/24 Tonight is my last night in Richmond, I leave my brother apartment. So in his memory I wanted to eat 'the best pub food in Melbourne' as he would say. And it's Parma night, my way of judging any new pub. 5 bites in I teared up, not hecause it's THAT good, but because it was as good if not better than advertised.

This is not goodbye, because "I'll be back" just might take me a while....

What a quirky warm and cool little Hotel.. the Royston Hotel is! The dining room is dim lit and quiet and offers an intimate dining experience with a great menu selection. I had the wild mushroom with barley risotto and it was lovely although a bit too much for me. My guests had the calamari and said it was the BEST she had ever had! I agreed when I had a bite! I shared the apple crumble, which was absolutely lovely and our guests also had the sticky date pudding which not only tasted great but the effort in the presentation was appreciated. The staff were attentive and friendly and the front bar wasn't overly big, which made it warm and inviting .. like your own little local. We finished the night in the front bar and sat in some well positioned comfy lounge chairs near the cool feature wall. For those who don't mind a game of pool .. there's also a table there as well. What a great...
