Mountain Cultureโs Melbourne outpost is an absolute win for Richmond โ finally, a dedicated spot for seriously good craft beer in a space that feels modern, welcoming, and a little bit cool without being pretentious. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is buzzing, with that perfect mix of locals and beer lovers discovering something new.
The beer is, of course, the star. Their range on tap is impressive โ from crisp lagers to hazy IPAs, through to experimental seasonal brews that keep things interesting. I tried a tasting paddle and loved being able to sample a bit of everything. Each pour was fresh, balanced, and full of flavour โ you can tell these guys know what theyโre doing when it comes to brewing.
The food is exactly what you want alongside good beer: hearty, tasty, and perfect for sharing. The burgers are juicy and stacked just right, the fried chicken is crispy and addictive, and the chips are golden, salty, and dangerously moreish. Itโs pub-style food, but done with care and consistency.
Service is friendly and upbeat, with staff who clearly know their beers and are happy to make recommendations without overwhelming you. Even when it was busy, everything came out quickly and with a smile.
The space itself is another highlight โ industrial but polished, with plenty of room to settle in for an afternoon. Itโs the kind of place you can lose track of time in, and before you know it, youโve stayed for a second (or third) round.
Mountain Culture Brewery brings something fresh to Richmondโs bar scene โ outstanding beer, a great atmosphere, and a food menu that keeps you satisfied. Already looking forward to...
ย ย ย Read moreAfter all the anticipation and excitement of finally checking this place out, we left quite underwhelmed and disappointed.
The beers are fantastic, great selection of styles to choose from. Cannot fault them.
The service, while friendly, left alot to be desired.
Ordered meals and drinks via the QR Code, as advised by staff. 40 minutes later, our food arrived. Pulled pork from the smoker menu was cold and dry, and the wrong salad was served. Smoked burger patty was nice but the amount of chips served with it was less than a handful and the plate was half empty which was aesthetically unappealing.
After finishing our meals, the drinks we ordered with them had still not arrived. This was an hour after placing the order. After bringing this to staffs attention and requesting to cancel and refund an $18 drink, we were given $16 back and charged full price for the almost hour late beer.
Hopefully just teething issues as it's a relatively new establishment, but sadly we won't be rushing back. Which is a real shame as they're one of our favourite brewers. If we happen to visit again, it'll likely just be for a few beers, but ordered straight...

A new brewery is always welcome in my travels and this was one of the best yet. It was very busy when I went and so I expected the food to take a while, but not, it was all out quickly and was uniformly great. It's mostly American Grill style with some classics like burgers, snags, fried chicken but it covers vegetarians pretty well with whole roster cauliflower and vegeburgers. All the food was great and I'd very much recommend the cauliflower.
The drinks trend toward the IPA side, as the modern beer landscape does, with a lot of WIPA, DILA and hazy. The core IPA and Hazy are amazing, even if you don't like IPAs usually they are very easy drinking. The stout and pilsner are solid, and the session ale is very crushable and fresh. Solid recommend to drop by and have a few pints.
The atmosphere is great, with a rustic charm and good vibe. The staff were all helpful and friendly.
Honestly, an A+ brewery that can hang...
