Saigon Mamma – Fresh Flavours It’s not always about special nights out and silver service restaurants. Sometimes you just don’t feel like doing the cooking or the cleaning up, and you want a local that does good food. For us, that means a trip to Saigon Mamma at 66 Koornang Road Carnegie. This is good Vietnamese food that is fresh and very tasty. The shop front is typical of a local suburban shopping strip and the tables and setting is homely and ensures that as many hungry people as possible can get in for a feed. The staff are friendly and the food comes quick. We originally discovered Saigon Mamma as a home delivered take away and it was good. We found out that the food is a whole lot better if you dine in and it doesn’t have to travel to be delivered. Now we make the short drive and let the team at Saigon Mamma do the cleaning up of dishes as well. Favourites include the Tofu Bao with its beautifully soft bao and crispy tofu paired with green apple, pickled carrots & lettuce in a Sriracha mayo sauce. A great way to start a meal. I always enjoy Vietnamese vegetarian spring rolls with lettuce and mint. Simple, but a classic. The star dish is the Tokyo Tofu, crispy salt & pepper silken Japanese tofu. That gets paired with either the amazing Broc and Choy, steamed broccoli & bok choy in a delicious mushroom sauce or the green apple slaw, with crushed peanuts and a zesty lime dressing. There are other yummy options as well. When you don’t feel like cooking then find a local to do it for you and if you are near Carnegie pop in to Saigon Mamma. You will not be disappointed.

Early family & friends dinner booking 6.45pm outdoors. Bring sunglasses 🕶️ ☀️ half the table could not see for sitting. Menulog has this restaurant awarded best Vietnamese Melb inner-South East We enjoyed the food yet struggled with the app table service and went inside to order. Sadly a meal was completely missed and did not receive until everyone had well & truly finished. Even ordered a later dish and the 1st dish still not arrived after following up on numerous occasions. They did not want to accept cancelling of the dish nor offer apology for ongoing delays Either way food was delicious:- Crispy Saigon chicken Chicken spring rolls Crispy wings Honey chicken Prawn dumplings Fried rice Fish soup Plain rice Calamari (the late add on dish) Pork salad (the delay dish) My 12yr old son got serious chilli in the eye from his fingers but that’s a lesson he now has behind him 🌶️ 😭 Tiny restaurant was packed & pumping by time we left Would probably try again but lose the table order system

Just writing to comment on the vegan food available- lots of options and thus far I have had the pho, bún tofu salad, dumplings and spring rolls! I opted for the low carb noodles (konjac noodles I believe which I love and glad they have as an option, just when they are busy check to see if they used the right noodle). I got the large Pho and it came with a generous amount of broth enough for the pho itself and a side which was good. Strongly recommend the pho and dumplings (although spring rolls were so good too and great for sharing). Had good communication with Tommy and the staff who were all lovely, will be back in the future! All in all, positive experience and good option in Carnegie. Photo attached of Pho and the rice paper rolls.

What an amazing little restaurant!! Came here with a large group so got to try so many different dishes and none of them let us down. We ordered spring rolls which were crispy and really tasty and the dipping sauce was on point. The bao buns were soft and fluffy and the soft shell crab inside was crispy and cooked perfectly with some great little pickled veg and a sauce that brought it all together. The chicken satay had a great dry rub and a peanut sauce that had the right amount of spice. The calamari skewers were super tender and came with some noodles, a mint sauce and lettuce to make a little lettuce cup. The barramundi hot pot was good to perfection. The fish just flaked away perfectly and the sauce with some rice was a great mouthful. The honey chicken was juicy and tender but the star of the show was the rare beef pho. I ordered the large and OMG it was huge!!! The beef and there was lots of it was super tender and so flavourful. The broth was rich, tasty and the depth of flavour was out of this world. It is as good as any pho I've had in Melbourne. The service is fast and efficient. I can't wait to come back to try more of their...
