Pros:
Service: 8/10 friendly customer service. Staffs are helpful and friendly. Menu: variety of authentic Korean food from rice to soup and fried chicken (no kimbap). They do hot stone bibimbap which is great and they have the fried chicken and beer combo. Great to share!
Food: 10/10 This is the best Korean restaurant in Melbourne that I’ve ever been. The food is authentic and so delicious. I love Korean food. I’ve been dining at a lot of Korean restaurants in Melbourne. I’ve been to Korea and Samwon Garden reminds me of the food in Korea so much. Big portion is worth for what you pay for. The food presentation is spot on. Food brings out hot and fresh. I took my friends and family here. Everyone loves it!
We ordered: Spicy cold noodle (9/10) very refreshing and tasty Pork backbone spicy soup w rice (8/10)very rich and flavorful broth and of course the backbone is amazing with lots of meat. Sweet chilli fried chicken 7/10 Spicy pork and squid on plate: 8/10 fresh ingredients and tasty sauce serve with rice and banchan Beef short ribs stew: 8/10 serve with rice and banchan. The beef ribs is so soft and flavorful. seafood pancake: 9/10 fresh, hot, crunchy. It was so good!
-Prices range are from $20-40 which is really understandable and affordable nowadays to be honest. As long as the food and service are good and worth the effort and the money we pay.
Atmosphere: 7/10 beside from Korean songs playing nonstop bringing up a good vibes but the restaurant is quite small. The walk way is narrow. No napkin box on the table so you have to ask for more napkin.
Tips: the restaurant is very busy at dinner time, so you are encouraged to book in advance. If you’re 10 minute late, they will cancel your reservation and you have to wait as normal like walk-in or sit outside if there is...
Read moreMy husband and myself loved eating Korean food all over Melbourne whether it's good tasty local eats in Clayton, Carnegie, Glen Waverly, Caulfield, homesglen or in the city. This is not one of them.
First of all we went for dinner and the place was not busy as yet and the food took forever to come out.
We'd ordered, 1 serving of the potato veg croquettes came out 2 pieces and that was $8, yes $8 for 2 pieces of average size croquettes! A spicy chicken cheese dish which was a good portion served on a hotplate but lack that flavourful spicy bang! Japchae - just like how it should be, sweet yet good texture.
Now this one was quite dissapointing the Spicy Ramyeon Ramen with added extra pork dumplings at extra costs was $15 - yes the instant noodle dish was way over price (even Pho noodles is only $13 and that's homemade broth and large)came out small not a generous portion as the girl told me at all! We had this in other restaurants and it's so much more tastier, bigger and added in other condiments to it.
We love Korean food and we know quality and happy to pay for delicious/ quality food. This is not value for money at all (well not the dishes that we had) not in a local area here. We...
Read moreGreat snow cheese fried chicken which is a hit with the little ones, seafood pancake is crispy with tender squid, and makguksu is a wonderful balance of spicy (level 8/10), fruity, and tender buckwheat noodles. A hidden gem and worth a try if you like spice. Bibimbap was nice but the bibijang was lacking a sweetness I am used to, felt like a generic spicy sauce as opposed to a true bibijang. The place gets BUSY at dinner time, which is a testament to their food quality and flavour. I would encourage booking ahead or plan on waiting 15-30 minutes on a busy weekend night. Seating is tight, and tables are crammed in there, so much so that the owner forced 3 of us on to a 2 seater table which made enjoying the meal a bit more challenging with several dishes on the table. The food is delicious and I can't complain about wait staff service. Very...
