What a Gem of a Srilankan Restaurant in the Heart of Huntingdale road in Oakleigh.. ! Traditional home made Srilankan food ! Reminds me of a Srilankan Restaurant in “Lower east-side “ in Manhattan NY! One of the best I thought until I came across this restaurant Spicy Swan! Kudos to the owners introducing us to traditional Srilankan Cooking … remember you will not find them on Any of the food delivery apps because they pride themselves in thier cooking and want you to pickup or dine in. I ordered the Kothu roti Chicken( pic from a week ago) absolutely amazing perfectly cooked chicken with a soft fluffy texture of the deconstructed roti and those curry spice flavors complimented the dish beautifully. Today I tried the Paratha meal plate (the Brussels sprouts fry was delicious sautéed with grated Coconut! The Dhal was creamy cooked with coconut milk and delicious , The beef curry was very tasty with succulent diced Beef great idea for those flavors to sink into the pieces of beef and engulf the beef with the flavors of the curry. Food is tasty, no complaints there. I wont be returning though because of a lack of flexibility. I want something quick for lunch but ask for a mix of two curries in the same size container. I expect that I will pay for that size container x the more expensive of the curries, more than happy to even pay a bit extra for the inconvenience of mixing. Seems they are unable to be flexible - don't want to mix and can't figure out the basic math, instead end up charging an exorbitant amount for lesser food (and still getting the math wrong). I had an incredible dining experience at Spicy Swan! The food was absolutely authentic, bursting with the rich flavors of Sri Lanka. Every dish was perfectly spiced, from the fragrant rice and creamy curries to the crispy hoppers and mouthwatering kottu. The seafood dishes were especially fresh and flavorful.
