We contacted the store by phone and ordered fried rice, informing them that we would be arriving for the buffet in about 10 minutes. The male staff member who answered the phone took our order and confirmed that the buffet was open. However, when we arrived, the buffet had already closed, and the lady at the store informed us that it had closed some time ago. It would have been better if they had informed us that the buffet was closed earlier, rather than disappointing customers before they even tasted the food.
Afterward, we ordered another fried rice and a kottu for dinner. We waited more than 20 minutes for the fried rice and then an additional 20 minutes for the kottu. The fried rice was good in taste, but the kottu was well below expectations. The roti was extremely dry and hard, and the cook had excessively added gravy and soy sauce to compensate, which resulted in a very unpleasant eating experience. Parts of the kottu were extremely sticky, while other areas were overly dry and difficult to eat. We've never had such a poor experience in terms of food quality.
Additionally, the store wasn't busy, yet there were used dishes and cutlery left on the tables in front of the counter. None of the staff made an effort to clear and clean these tables, even though a few customers sat there waiting for their food.
You should strive to do far better than this—a little more effort could make a...
Read moreFrom the moment you step inside, this restaurant offers more than just food. The aromas of freshly ground spices, the sizzle from the kitchen, and the welcoming smiles of the staff immediately set the tone for an unforgettable dining experience.
You can start with cutlets, pan rolls or stuffed roti, both crisp on the outside and bursting with flavour. The mains were simply outstanding — the kottu is perfectly chopped and spiced, and the lamprais is an aromatic masterpiece, with every element cooked to perfection and you can also totally go for cheapest Buffet I’ve seen if you want to go old school. Their devilled chicken packed the perfect punch of heat and sweetness, and the parippu is creamy and comforting.
What would really steal the show is the dessert — the wattalappam which is silky, rich, and spiced just right. Paired with a cup of Ceylon milk tea, it will be the perfect way to end the meal.
The service was impeccable — attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about every dish. The ambience, with touches of traditional decor and soft Sri Lankan music playing in the background, added to the charm.
Whether you’re Sri Lankan and craving a taste of home, or someone eager to explore a vibrant cuisine, this place is a must-visit. You’ll leave with a full belly and...
Read moreThis place was referred to me by a Sri Lankan friend stating this got great Sri Lankan food varieties such as koththu, fried rice and etc and I love to eat spicy foods. Regardless of seeing below negative google reviews I went to this shop by taking my friends words and had few varieties which my friend recommended. OMG! What a shocking experience 1. Music was too loud, must be playing Sri Lankan songs! 2. Food never tasted good and the quantity was very little as I ordered a large portion, just go SE suburbs shops to see what is a larger position is mate and almost didn’t see mixed of chicken to my meal ( there was a review stating less chicken in their koththu and it was proven to be very true ) when my friend sharing your food in our office it was great but not this time. When I talked to my friend he told me owners must be focused on their Northcote shop not on this shop anymore and just doing social media marketing only and give it one more try after a week ! but sorry I don’t want to waste my money and time mate. Please avoid this shop and I never recommend this place to anyone. Also, please check other bad reviews as well to get a better understanding of this...
