I had the most appalling dining experience at Sher Singh Food and feel absolutely compelled to share just how terrible it was. From the very start, it was clear this place doesn’t prioritize customer satisfaction, nor do they seem to care about serving quality food.
I ordered the Dahi Kebab, which I expected to be a flavorful, well-prepared dish. What I got was a soggy, tasteless mess, drenched in BBQ sauce—a combination that was completely unappetizing and ruined the entire dish. Naturally, I asked the staff if they could correct this, explaining that the BBQ sauce was completely out of place. Their response? Defensiveness. They insisted that this was the best version of the Dahi Kebab they could offer and wouldn’t even consider replacing it or adjusting it in any way. It’s as if they simply don’t care whether their customers enjoy their food or not.
But it got even worse. I requested to speak with the manager, hoping for some accountability or at least an apology. Instead, I was told that the manager was too busy to handle customers and couldn’t be bothered to address any issues. Unbelievable. No one stepped up to resolve the situation, and I was left to deal with an unhelpful, uninterested staff.
When it came time to pay, I was told I had to pay for the Dahi Kebab, even though I didn’t eat it. Their excuse? The dish had already been prepared, so it couldn’t be removed from the bill. The nerve of this place. Not only did they serve something inedible, but they also had the audacity to charge me for it, as if my concerns were meaningless. And here’s the kicker: When I expressed my frustration, one of the staff members actually said, “$20 isn’t going to take you anywhere.” That’s how they treated me—as if my complaint was unimportant and I was just being petty.
In all my years of dining out, I’ve never encountered such disrespect and poor customer service. Sher Singh Food clearly doesn’t care about quality, customer satisfaction, or even basic decency. The fact that they refuse to even acknowledge their mistakes or make any attempt to remedy a situation speaks volumes. I will never return to this place, and I strongly urge anyone reading this to avoid it at all costs. If you value your time, money, and dignity, do yourself a favor and go...
Read moreORDERED: 🍱 (Lunch menu): Maharani Thali (non-veg): 3 curries, saffron rice, garlic naan, dessert, raita, papadum ($24.99)
I paid $25.39 including credit card surcharge.
REVIEW: A great, incredibly filling lunch option at Sher Singh. The 3 curries I think I received are the dhal, butter chicken and goat/lamb! 🌿 If I had to tie it back to their menu, the Daal had: black lentils, tomatoes, ginger, and garlic simmered overnight on slow with cream and a dollop of unsalted butter. This was a great vegetarian and was the 'mildest' in flavour. 🍗 Butter chicken was a boneless chicken tikka cooked in a rich creamy tomato butter gravy. However, I could definitely taste a smokiness to the boneless chicken which makes me think Sher Singh smoked/charcoaled it prior to cooking it in the curry. This was an excellent and delicious addition and added so much flavour and depth to a classic butter chicken curry. 🍖 Similarly, the lamb/goat was heavy with flavour but I wasn't too sure which one it was. The choices were delicious and I loved choosing between different flavours for each bite.
🌞 The rice didn't particularly scream saffron flavoured, but the garlic naan was delicious. The raita left a refreshing taste, and the papadum is and always be a savoury favourite.
🔥 There's a little bit of a wait during the weekday work lunch, but the food comes out PIPING hot. I do wish they took the opportunity to explain the curries to me before they went away, but I did feel like they had really good efficiency (quick to give tap water and take my order) when I was there.
The interior is really fitted out and on theme. I appreciate 100% commitment, and it adds so much character to a restaurant. Super fun to read online all about "Sher Singh" and his historical...
Read moreFinding an Indian restaurant open on a Sunday can be tough, but this spot was a hidden gem. We were a group of eight and opted for the outdoor seating, which added a relaxed vibe to the evening. Despite the busy weekend, the service was impressively quick, and the food did not disappoint.
We started with the Afghani Chicken Tikka—it was flavorful but could use a bit more masala to really bring out the dish’s potential. The Amritsar Fish Tikka, on the other hand, was cooked to perfection and paired wonderfully with the mint sauce. Then came the Paneer Tikka, which was simply beautiful—soft, bursting with flavor, and served in four large chunks of paneer that were perfectly cooked.
For bread, we had our usual Butter Naan and Garlic Naan, but we also decided to try something different: the Kalonji Naan—a naan topped with black sesame seeds (or black jeera). It was a delightful change, adding a nice earthy flavor to the meal.
The mains were equally impressive. The Meat Beliram was incredibly tender, with each piece melting in the mouth, while the Falaknuma Shahi Murgh was just amazing—rich and full of flavor. The Lazeez Paneer Makhani had a creamy texture with soft paneer pieces that balanced the dish perfectly. We paired everything with Kashmiri Rice, which had a generous amount of raisins, adding a subtle sweetness that complemented the spicy dishes well.
For dessert, we ended with Gulab Jamun. While they were soft, I felt the inner part could have been cooked a bit more for that perfect texture.
Overall, I’d rate the place a solid 4.5/5. It’s a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Indian flavors with quick service and a...
