Pok Pok Docklands, a veritable temple of Thai gastronomy, proves itself a dazzling beacon amidst the city's culinary landscape. Upon stepping into its captivating domain, one is instantly enveloped by an atmosphere that is as tantalising as the culinary wonders it houses. The ambiance, a carefully curated blend of energy and warmth, resonates with the vibrant spices that are the soul of this establishment.
The service here pays due homage to the tradition of Thai hospitality. Each interaction, from the welcoming nod of acknowledgment to the final fond farewell, is executed with a sincere warmth that effortlessly elevates the dining experience.
However, one must be forewarned - securing a table in this sought-after locale requires a blend of strategic planning and a dash of luck, given the formidable reputation Pok Pok Docklands has rightfully earned.
If you find yourself fortunate enough to dine here, do allow me to recommend a culinary companion that will enhance your gastronomic journey: their coconut rice. A seemingly simple dish, it magically amplifies the intricate flavours of any entrée it partners with. The subtly fragrant grains, kissed with the creamy sweetness of coconut, act as a harmonious counterpoint, seamlessly tying together the sensory symphony that is a meal at Pok Pok.
In a city teeming with dining options, Pok Pok Docklands establishes itself as a must-visit for any discerning lover of Thai cuisine. One visit, I assure you, and you'll find yourself forever entranced by its...
Read moreI’ve never written a review before, but the experience yesterday left me so frustrated that I felt compelled to share it.
My FIRST AND LAST visit to this restaurant. The service was disappointing, particularly the rude behavior of one staff member. I ordered Pad See Yew via their QR code and requested it to be made extra spicy. Instead of making the dish spicy as requested, they served it with a small portion of crushed chilli on the side (which I was fine with it).
When I found the dish too sweet compared to what I’ve had at other restaurants, I politely asked for more chilli. A lady brought a small amount in a saucer, but just moments later, she came back and asked for 50 cents. I expressed that I should have been informed of the charge beforehand, especially since I had already asked for the dish to be made spicy. Without responding, she walked away, only to return a few seconds later with an EFTPOS machine, flashing 50 cents on the screen directly at me while I was still eating, demanding payment again with a curt “50 cents!”
To top it off, charging 50 cents for such a tiny amount of chilli is absolutely over the roof! The whole experience felt unprofessional, and the lack of basic courtesy and table manners from that staff member left a bad impression. I paid the 50 cents to avoid further confrontation, but I won’t be returning...
Read moreI normally don’t post reviews especially negative reviews and if I do, something must be a total flop that it can’t be salvaged or it’s quite remarkable and definitely worth a mention. My partner and I have been going here for the past 9 years to get our crispy roast pork belly with green peppercorns and chicken cashew nuts fix.
I think this place has recently changed management and they have tweaked the old menu to a devastating result. In the stir fry pork belly they have added carrots which gives the dish a sweet taste and subbed yellow sweet chillies with green capsicum. Something in the dish did not taste as fresh as well. The pork belly was nowhere near crispy except for like 1 piece but I’ll give them the benefit of doubt since I got it in a take away container. I did get more pork belly in the dish The stir-fried chicken cashew, I won’t even go there but quite simply it was just a mess of ingredients mashed up together and masqueraded as Thai flavours. I won’t be walking in through those doors again. Pok pok junior in the cbd is way better and authentic (disclaimer- I havent been there in 5 months but they are not affiliated in any way except for the initial owner who established the restaurants before...
