We adored this cafe. We would score it a 4.6 out of 5.
It’s a pretty funky and buzzy place here. The fit out is nice with a few really lovely touches. The spring menu was on today, probably because it’s spring. It wasn’t the autumn one posted currently online in various spots. It’s a pretty good menu I’d have to say. It wasn’t easy to make a meal choice.
I started with a coffee. It was spectacularly good. A seriously stunning long black with warm milk. It will stay in my memory for a long time as it was off the scale good. I attempted to tell the barista she was a genuis. It turned out to be the manager who promised to pass the message to the barista who had popped out for a minute. I tried my partner’s skinny flat white to see if that measured up as well. It was a beauty too. Even I could make the conclusion. And that is, this is a very very serious coffee venue.
I tried a Bloody Mary as well. This too was faultless. The key points being it’s a nice size, the spice is perfect, the amount of ice appropriate and restrained. The spice in the drink is superb I’d have to say. Enough throat grab to thrill, but held back enough to avoid being overwhelmed. I’ve tried this drink across Melbourne and abroad. Trust me, the one here is an absolute beauty. Bravo.
My chosen meal was a beautiful dish. Ham hock, lentils, eggs, cheesy scones and added grilled asparagus. The dish was excellent. The scones were utterly beautiful. Thrillingly cheesy and just soooo tasty. The cheese flavour was perfect, just as perfect as the eggs in the dish. The lentils were marvellous too, the ham hock really flavoursome as well. The grilled asparagus I’d added to the dish worked superbly. It too was just beautifully cooked. This dish was excellent. I loved it and so did my partner who had also ordered the exact same thing. The sign of a great dish to me is indecision about what to have as the last mouthful. My indecision today covered five elements in the dish.
Service is very efficient here. It is also cooly distant in the manner consistent with all sorts of trend setting people wandering in and out. We liked it

Read moreThis place is a MUST visit for anyone who appreciates excellent food and service. My husband and I have no complaints, no critiques for the meals and service we both just experienced today.
Drinks; We ordered the dark hot chocolate, and a strong latte. Both exceptional and well balanced. Whoever was on the machine, knew what they were doing. My husband has been a barista for 20 years and has worked all over Melbourne; he could tell straight away it wasn’t just the blend of coffee but the individual/s behind the machine.
Food; we ordered the Spanish French toast and the Turkish poached eggs with butter and Aleppo pepper side of chorizo. Not only were the meals out quick but the flavours were well balanced, moorish, and food was all cooked perfectly. The presentation was gorgeous and everything had its place on the plate. Apologies we didn’t take photos, we couldn’t resist digging in, it all looked too damn delicious. This menu was outstanding and unique, in not only the variety available but the combination of ingredients in each dish. It was obvious, that much like the movie “chef” the back of house staff meticulously tried, tested and tasted every dish until achieving perfection.
The front of house staff were humble, attentive and worked together like a well oiled machine. The atmosphere was simultaneously bustling, yet calm and organised. Everyone had a role, and they had perfected their place front of house.
We are self proclaimed foodies, and have eaten our way around Melbourne We happened to stumble across this cafe on Google and travelled from St Kilda to try this exceptional establishment.
Kudos to the owner for creating a wonderful, delicious and comfortable community space which we are more than excited to revisit in the future. Thank you for the...
Read moreOk let’s set the scene, the girlies want a cute Sunday catch up to scare away the Sunday scaries. We say yesss a cute cafe is the move. We yap, the coffee comes, it’s delish, very good coffee, or well at least what you would expect. We toss up about what each of us are going to get and on multiple occasions I forget I’m meant to be picking what to eat because of the absolute yap I was having. Regardless we order and the food comes out, my friend, let’s call her B, ordered the crispy folded eggs. Tell me why, in this economy, there is only one bit of toast? Like Gurl what?!? Are you serious. We all noticed instantly. We understand things are not that deep, life doesn’t always have to be serious, in fact we were all hanging out to make life seem not so serious on that scary Sunday. BUT ONE PIECE OF TOAST?!?!? With eggs? My oh my. I have never seen it in my life. We were appalled. For $22? So the one piece of toast is worth what $11? As we are all student we understand the worth of a dollar but we are also not ones to deprive ourselves of tapping our card, in fact sometimes we love it a bit much. Just saying on a moral level, taking into account the economy but also the enjoyment of a customer, there should always be two pieces of toast with eggs....
