Sinjeon Carnegie has been our go to local topokki delivery place since they opened and we finally decided walk inside and try our favourite cheese topokki, the new menu item KFC kimbap and everyone's favourite, k-school tray tonight.
As always, Topokki was our favourite, with the sweet and spicy sauce and perfect portion size. You should try this at least once, and you won't regret it. The cheese pull is beautiful!
The KFC kimbab was a very pleasant surprise as it exceeded our expectations. The fried chicken, eggs, and crunchy veggies inside the kimbab are amazing. The kimbab was crunchy and soft at the same time, and we love it with the sesame oil and sesame seeds dressing. This is now our newest favourite kimbab.
K-school tray is so filling and wholesome and comes with different protein options, including vegetarian, which is a huge plus. It also has different side dishes such as fried dumplings, kimbab, and veggie salad. We ordered the beef bulgogi one and it was amazing!
Note that Sinjeon has an extensive vegetarian and vegan menu, and it is something we really appreciate.
We loved everything tonight! The staff was so kind and made our visit more enjoyable. We will...
Read moreFinally a great kimbap place! The kimbap here is the hero, especially the kimchi cheese or kimchi bulgogi, it actually packs some heat and just enough cheese to tame it a notch. I'd say somewhere around the 8 mark, which was spicier than I expected! The tuna mayo kimbap was also nice and was seasoned well with plenty of mayo. The rose tteokbokki was great and mild enough for a child to eat a bit, while the regular tteokbokki packed a solid 8-8.5 level of heat. While the flavour is nice, this is a street food chain and as such they use street food rice cakes which contain wheat to avoid swelling as much as 100% rice cakes. For me, this keeps this dish from being great. Try a non chain if you prefer a slightly softer chew and more home style rice cake like me. A few annoying things 1.) Tiny paper water cups without any water bottles for the table. Very much street food style, but annoying to have to refill so much with spicy food!. 2.) The music can be a bit loud. 3.) They kept the door open for ventilation, which was chilly on the day. 4.) Limited seating fills up fast. We will be back...

We actually really enjoyed the food that we had here. I really liked the spam kimbap I find that not many places. Do a spam version. I really enjoyed dipping it into the topokki sauce. There was really fresh ingredients in the bimbimbap and the sauce gave it a depth of flavour. The fried chicken was coated in sauce and the crispy dumplings were really crispy. The kimchi fried rice was also really good and the portions were pretty...
