Sorrento Portsea RSL Club — Restaurant in Melbourne

Will not return to Sorrento RSL after our experience last night! The restaurant was great. We arrived at 5pm to secure our table to watch the band. One of the staff called Denise was not happy with the table we chose because she wanted it for her friends. We left 3 reserved signs on the table when we went in to the restaurant for dinner. When we came back to claim our table she had her friends sitting at it. They refused to move so our table of 12 had to spread out and sit at the end of whatever tables we could fine. I said to her you knew we reserved that table. She got right up to my face and said "If I had my way I would turf you out right now." Disgusting customer service.

Thank you Denise for your response. Don't worry we will not be back. You are trying to say i was drunk and out of control after 1 hour! Sorry! I was not! Called in for a pre dinner drink initially. The service was old school as you'd expect and friendly enough

The drinks were all commercial CUB beers but the shiraz was good. All drinks for dinner are over the bar.

We ate at the Thai restaurant which is in the club. The service there was very Thai and very welcoming.

The food was alright for a regional restaurant with some good options. The same peanut sauce was used for all the entrees being tofu, curry puffs and roti bread.

For mains we had fried rice which was ok. Rather plain overall.

My massaman beef was thin strip's of meat, not chunky pieces but it was surprisingly still ok. The meat was tender, and the curry sauce ok too.

The boiled rice was a bit dry, but ok too.

The others enjoyed their food which is the reason for 2 stars. I assumed there’d be vegan options being a Thai restaurant so didn’t worry about calling ahead like I normally do. I tried to ask for entrees made vegan like veg spring rolls or veg rice paper rolls and mains made vegan like soups and salads but was told everything had fish sauce except a $30 stir fry. Noodles couldn’t even be made vegan. I ended up getting steamed vegetables and rice, unfortunately pretty disappointing!!
