"Disappointing" doesn't begin to describe our experience here.
The overall feel of the place is dated and cheap, with butchers paper tablecloth like a yum cha joint and no table menus, yet the steaks start at $40 and continue on to $80+. These prices might not be so bad if the plates came loaded with extras, but they didn't. The only sides were a sprinkling of a bland & uninspired garden salad, more of which was provided in a bowl to share. It went mostly untouched. I agreed to the upsell on hot chips to share, which were also nothing special.
The steaks themselves were thick, but the positives end there. Our medium-rares were much closer to rare (probably 70% red), and tasted every bit as bland as the salad. I've prepared far better steaks at home with minimal preparation and skill.
The service was below-average. As stated previously, no table menus. Everything is on one of two overhead blackboards in a small, difficult-to-read font. The owner/"host" was friendly to diners he seemed to know, but never so much as glanced in our general direction. The woman I assume to be his wife repeatedly walked past and picked up our drinks while offering a "refill" we'd already just said no to, which I have no doubt we would've been charged for.
If you're thinking of coming here, do yourself a favour and cook the steak yourself. You'll get twice the meat or more for the same price at Coles/local butcher/etc and a quick Google will find you countless ways of preparing it. Don't want to cook? Visit your nearest TGI Fridays or Hog's Breathe Cafe, where (among all the other options) you'll get better steaks, better sides, an entree, and...

Read moreWhat a weird and wonderful place! Such a different vibe to most steakhouses I've been to but honestly we were very impressed! Service was excellent, you can walk up and choose your steaks from the fridge.
We ordered a porterhouse and a T-Bone, we read previous reviews about them tending to under cook the steaks a bit so we ordered medium-rare as rare steak lovers. If you are the kind of person who freaks out about undercooked steak maybe ask for medium - steaks 1" thick will always have variation throughout when cooked on an open grill!
The steaks are THICK, so this worked out well, we had nice medium rare on the edges and rare inside as expected! They came slathered in sauce of our choice and we ordered a big bowl of chips!
We also ordered a prawn cocktail which came with incredibly fresh king prawns and some standard seafood sauce!
Overall a fantastic experience! We will be...
