My partner and I had come to Melbourne from Canberra for a wedding this weekend - we took one look inside of the restaurant and decided this was the perfect spot for a nice dinner.
Entering the restaurant we were greeted with a warm ambient atmosphere which was matched with lovely staff and beautiful service.
My partner and I ordered Rosemary Focaccia with duo of dips and the Wagyu Beef Tartare to start.
The starters were just the beginning of an incredible dining experience as my first bite into the focaccia and tartare raised the bar for all of my future restaurant experiences.
We eagerly awaited our main dishes after finishing. We had ordered Crispy Pork Belly and the Wagyu Cube Roll
It was both my partner and I’s very first time having wagyu and we were not certain of what to expect in flavour or texture.
However, It’s definitely not an overstatement for me to say that the food was so good we couldn’t stop eating. I even kept stealing my partners Wagyu because I simply couldn’t get enough.
The pork was cooked perfectly, it was evenly thick with a nice flat crunchy top and was easy for me to pull apart and eat - the chefs really know what they’re doing here.
We left the restaurant incredibly satisfied with our meal, service and experience. The portion sizes were really good and we were absolutely stuffed.
I also happened to lose my wallet while dining at this restaurant on Friday night. We went back on Sunday to check as we couldn’t find it anywhere and the staff who assisted us was incredibly kind and called the manager to check if it was found.
The restaurant had actually taken my wallet back to the hotel we were staying at and when I was able to get it back it had every single thing still intact and they even tucked in the note I had poking out to make sure it was hidden and safe inside the wallet.
I felt incredibly lucky that I had lost my wallet in all places at this restaurant and the fact that it had been handed in with all of its contents from when I dropped it says to me that this is a restaurant that really truly takes spectacular care of its guests and prides itself on providing nothing but excellence.
Thank you for the amazing experience and kindness, we will certainly be back next time we visit...
Read moreService polite, professional and immediate. Selections varied, but not too much to make one think that they do everything halfway. Architecture was pleasing. Well lit, yet dark and cosy. Atmosphere was acceptable, not too loud, yet family friendly. Music not too loud, or too quiet. Pricing is acceptable, given what one assumes are impressive import fees for an inner city establishment. Drink selections were varied enough, with a few new items of note. Table, glasses and cutler and not cheap run-of-the-mill half steel and glass. Proper knives and crystal glassware. Staff are focused and attentive. The steak, grade 8, served with mashed potato and red wine jus was appropriately portioned and well grilled. The flavour was quite nice for a grade 8. The red wine jus was the highlight for me, silky smooth in texture and taste, a delight worthy of any man, regardless of status. Overall, I was very pleased with the restaurants positive aspects, and I only have one negative to note: dress standards. I attended the restaurant in a polo and pants, simple, yet acceptable for a social venue. I noted that another patron of the establishment was dressed in a tee and shorts, the likes of which did not cover the top of his bottom. He was not a hefty man, but fit and well trimmed and I had the displeasure of having his bright orange underwater presented to my face multiple times as he darted to and fro around the table that his family was at. I am not a stickler for many thing, but there is a reason why they were previously called privates.
On a last note, the owner of this establishment is a jovial and attentive personality that genuinely cares about his patrons. My compliments on a fine...
Read moreThis is a copy of the email I sent to Steakhouse Grill following a meal I had with my family at the restaurant. They initially sent a query as to how my experience was. If positive, they requested a Google review. If negative, they gave a link to their customer service department. I initially sent this email to them on August 16. Since I have heard absolutely nothing back by way of apology or inquiry, I am not convinced that they are serious about improving their service. I have therefore decided to publish my email to them...judge for yourself:
Dear Steakhouse66, I just had dinner with my family this evening at your restaurant. I have to say, I was underwhelmed. The steak cuts were high quality. I got a Wagyu done medium and it was excellent. My wife and sons had the porterhouse, ordered medium rare. The steaks were served rare and glistening on the inside. The sides were good, but if you’re offering roast vegetables as a side dish, and the steak is served with mashed potatoes, then one wouldn’t expect the majority of the roast vegetables to be potatoes. Two of our party ordered old fashioned’s. They were overly sweet, and lacked bitters. We waited over 20 minutes to have our plates cleared when the meal was finished. We ordered three desserts, two came out with the dessert drinks, but one was forgotten. We had to call the waitress over to get that “checked on”. Two of us ordered dessert wine, a tawny port and a semillon. The size of the pour was laughable, I’m not sure it was even 30ml. For a $600 meal, you could and should do way better. I’m not one to complain at minor issues, but I’m very disappointed in the experience. Please feel free to contact me if you have...
