Incredibly disappointing venue and food. I feel cheated after the way I was treated so badly compared to other guests.
The service was appalling. The staff were inattentive and barely present - I had to tell them to pick up a spoon that was on the floor which they didn’t care if they had tripped over or guests. It was difficult to reach. When my mud crab dish arrived, no one explained how to eat it - I asked several times to show me how with their special tongs but to no avail. I had to tell the waitstaff multiple times that I was finished with the subpar food — with most of it untouched. Ignoring customers does not get you anywhere!
The food was subpar, with only the mud crab being edible. However, I was charged an extra $9 just to add basic ingredients to the dish ( xonoodles) — which should have already been included. The oysters were served extremely hot and drenched in an overpowering unflavorful sauce (couldn’t ask for just fresh cold oysters as waiters spoke no English) , masking any natural oyster flavor. I could only eat two out of six. The Peking duck was another major disappointment — there was no duck, just vegetables. It was completely misleading and not worth the money. I had to tell waiters several times I was finished with the subpar meal.
To top it off, the waiter asked for a tip before I even paid at the cashier — which felt highly inappropriate, given the poor quality of both the food and service.
I ended up buying a drink and chocolate after leaving the venue, just to get the bad taste out of my mouth. My $178 bill was a total waste, and I felt cheated.
I will not return again with this subpar service and food. AVOID!!! Waiters do not speak English!! Be considerate

Read moreMy sister dined here tonight and had a terrible, and actually quite terrifying experience. She unfortunately left a shopping bag at the restaurant containing a gift that we had just earlier in the day bought for our mother - it was an expensive gift, one that we had saved up for a long, long time to buy and one that we were really, really excited to give to her. When my sister got home and realised her mistake, she was obviously distraught, and immediately called the restaurant. They told her straight away there was nothing, and then hung up on her mid-conversation. She decides to drive to the restaurant to check just in case, but when she gets there the restaurant is closed. However a man exits, who ostensibly works at the restaurant, holding the shopping bag and in fact OPENING THE WRAPPING on the gift. She claims it's her item and asks him why the restaurant told her on the phone they didn't have it - he then proceeds to yell at her incomprehensibly and refuses to give her the bag. She literally had to grab it off him and run. She was very distressed as she perceived the man to be quite aggressive and it was nighttime so it was a horrible experience for her. Bad service can be by the by at BYOs in Melbourne, but stealing items from customers is pretty ridiculous and deplorable. Do yourself a favour - if you're craving Chinese food in the city, avoid Supper Inn and try Shan Dong Mama a few streets away instead. The food is WAY better, the service is about the same, but at least they don't have a history of stealing things from...
Read moreRudest treatment I have ever experienced in a restaurant. I was momentarily comforting my 3 yo daughter who was bumped into by hostess and hit her neck on a nearby table. I apologised to the hostess as I had not managed to keep hold of my kid’s hand and was asking my daughter if she was ok. Suddenly I realised I was in the way of a server and tried to decide if I should go backward or forward to get out of his way as I noticed he was waiting impatiently to pass me and gestured at me to get out his way (he was carrying nothing, I had my daughter in my arms in a very small passageway and was being careful not to hit any nearby tables as I carried her out of the way.) As the waiter gestures impatiently I asked if he could take a step back so I could get by him to quickly access the exit door. He would literally need to take a single step to allow me to pass.) “can I?” I asked gesturing to the direction I wanted to go. He continued to gesture more impatiently saying “you will have to!” Exasperated he took a step back and begrudgingly allowed me to pass. I was shocked as I was not aware the restaurant had a reputation for impolite service.
What else? Expensive considering portion size, we were disappointed even before the rude interaction and we left hungry. We were asked to tip as well. Food was pretty good but nothing to write home about.
The other servers were polite enough to us but I have seen in other reviews that it seems to be an issue with all the staff not any particular...
