Hi, I’m someone who loves new experiences and enjoys Korean food. I’ve been to many Korean BBQ restaurants in Melbourne, such as Bornga, Pak, Yukgam, Seven Stars Pocha, and today, as I passed by QV, I saw Sura and decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, it ended up being a disappointing experience.
About the food: The meat was overly sweet. Although I usually enjoy sweet flavors, after trying two portions of beef, I couldn’t even touch the pork dish because it was just far too sweet. The pork in my dish contained way too much fat (almost 60-70%), and I couldn’t eat any of it.
About the service: We understand that it’s the weekend, and the restaurant is very busy, so we patiently waited for the staff to be free before asking for help. However, it seemed like the staff only focused on serving tables with Korean customers, completely neglecting ours. I also noticed that other customers at different tables found it very difficult to get the staff’s attention, to the point where they had to walk to the counter to ask for assistance. At other Korean BBQ restaurants, grilled meat is always served with complimentary lettuce, but at Sura, you have to order it through a QR code for $0. I found this quite interesting, so I decided to order three portions of lettuce. The first serving came out quickly but in a very small quantity (around 4-5 lettuce leaves in a small tray). However, because the food was overly sweet and fatty, it became overwhelming to eat without the balance of lettuce. When we ordered more lettuce for the second round, it took a long time (about 15 minutes) to arrive. I understand the restaurant was busy, but I’m quite certain that most tables had already paid by that time. Making customers wait 15 minutes for lettuce completely ruined the dining experience. We are happy to pay for extra lettuce, but if you’re offering it for $0, please ensure customers can get it promptly when needed. When we paid and left, there was not a single word of thanks or goodbye. You truly did not pay attention to your customers.

Read moreHaving come here twice and soon to come here again I give this place four stars, after viewing other peoples reviews I do agree the staff could be more attentive; but that’s only if your not able to communicate the language simply to get the waiter(resses) attention. My second visit here was simple and quick as I had a fantastic friend who was able to translate with what we were ordering, order food quick and have them deliver quick. it’s enjoyable when you want to take your time here the food is marvellous. I didn’t realise till my second visit; the small nibble dishes can continuously be topped up free which is perfect and the choices of meat is plentiful and quite tasty. I think I agree with other peoples reviews though about lack of communication and those to look up and attend to customers more about any help or to attend and see if everything is ok.
Food 9/10 I shall change my review again once I visit here for my third visit soon and see what I loved about it before Staff 9/10 Friendly and helpful, attentive depending on days you attend and if very busy or if staff are able to communicate and understand what you say. Price $$$ but not so expensive you would run away 😂👌it’s pretty great for what you order. Atmosphere 9/10 Lovely layout Love the smell of the food wafting as I come past or walk in, sometimes it can be a little too hot in certain corners but that’s just other customers needing to learn hot to control their hotpot heat Cleanliness 9/10 as this is located in QV, and as many other restaurants need to as well; to find the bathroom you have to walk a long distance to reach. It would be great if QV can provide a closer alternative to the lavatory. Drain your bladder before attending because you certainly will be wanting to sit and enjoy every moment at Seorae. Arrived around 905pm, they asked us to wait for 20mins if we have no reservations (even though there’s quite numbers of empty table) This part I’m still be fine.
We ordered BBQ set, it served later on, and no one helped to switch on the gas stove, everything we do ourselves. That’s still fine.
Due to long waiting, we were so hungry. The set included 10 sauce plate sized appetisers, we ate few of it while waiting for the meat to be cooked.
And this is the FIRST time, I asked for appetiser to refill (since the poster wrote it refillable), we still waiting for our pork to be done grilling.
What ridiculous is here: The one shorter male waiter just stand beside us, We called up for refills, He just heavily throw his tray on floor? And walked to us and asked which to refill. We paused, couldn’t answer because there were like 7/10 emptied, and we didn’t know the name.
Then he said is it ALL? Then we were like: Sure. He then just ROLLED his eyes in front of me and giving an unsatisfying HNG sound, and walked away and never got it refilled.
Our mood directly spoilt, we not even started our meal yet. Luckily the other staff approached and helped refilled. Other staffs were mostly quiet the whole time, no interaction but at least did not give us a dark face, like we owed them.
This guy, literally the special one, and the whole dining experience when he walked past us, he kept giving us the awful sight. Made us soooooo dislike.
Manager was there, but we not sure whether manager noticed this behaviour or not. And we didn’t have chance to tell him.
We will never recommend to come back here again, and we WON’T again!
This waiter shouldn’t work in customer servicing at all, he should go work for himself! Unless u changed your staff, or kicked him off this job. Else you gonna lose all...
