Jiro Sushi at 'The Glen' Shopping Centre – where sushi cravings turn even the most unwilling significant others into chauffeurs!
I'll admit it – I'm guilty of dragging my significant other to Jiro Sushi against their will, but hey, desperate times call for delicious measures, right? And let me tell you, it's worth every eye roll and sigh.
My go-to? The prawn katsu roll. It's like a crunchy, savoury hug for my taste buds – pure comfort food in sushi form. And don't even get me started on the tuna – fresher than a morning breeze on a Japanese fishing boat....As for the salmon, let me tell you, it's a real overachiever in the world of seafood. I swear, that fish must have spent its entire life training for its moment of sushi stardom. Picture this: little Salmonella, swimming upstream against the current, dodging hungry bears and leaping waterfalls, all while perfecting its sushi technique. It's like the Rocky Balboa of the ocean, except instead of punching sides of beef, it's perfecting its sashimi slice. And boy, does it show in the taste – each bite is a testament to years of hard work and dedication. So when I say it's spot on, I mean it's the LeBron James of the sushi world, dunking on all the other fish with finesse and flavour.
Sure, it might take a little convincing to get your partner behind the wheel for a sushi run, but once they take that first bite, they'll be thanking you (and maybe even asking for seconds). Trust me, it's a...
Read moreHoo boy, where to start with the promo? We went at 10.15am to see if we could snag a spot since the last time we went there was a two hour wait. Line essentially stretched all the way to the other end of the mall. After an hour of being in line we were given a docket and told to come back at 1.15pm.
After a phone call to return we did and got seated. We were told we could get one single plate of the chefs special each, and that we could order up to eight dishes at a time, and that we could order up to the last 15 minutes of our time on the table (you are given one hour of eating).
In reality, there is nothing in the sushi train worth eating unless you like cucumber and rice rolls, and you can only order 6 dishes from the tablet before the screen locks you out, and you have to wait 20 minutes before the dishes arrive. At one point it got so bad a waiter had to hand deliver them to us, and we essentially got to order maybe two rounds before our time ran out. We never did get that last dish delivered as we were shooed out. I think we were even supposed to get a dessert but apparently that was self service from the front. Could’ve told us that earlier buddy.
Great con, I’m certain Sushi Jiro made money from this, but it cemented our previous decision to never go back there again as the right one. Would recommend everyone stay away, no one knows heads or tails about what is...
Read moreOver the years of visiting this Sushi Jiro, they have been on a significant decline. I used to come to this place with the food being fresh, service being good and place being clean and vibrant. It has been my first time in a while today visiting this place and i can say that im very dissatisfied. The place is all worn out and dirty. A whole row of iPads on the counters were “not working”, Another whole counter section closed off for the use of the staff with plates, soy sauces, random items were stored on the countertop in the plane view of everyone. The young woman who served me and most people I noticed at the place were dead and lacked enthusiasm. Staff would serve your food and leave then go on their phones after, making it as if they did not want to be there at all. Food was average and tasted decent but the only thing I noticed is that the cut of the fish has gotten thinner and shorter on some of the dishes on the sushi train. I was also noticeably waiting a while for the dish that I usually get on the sushi train, which is the aburi salmon with spicy mayo. I waited for it in the hopes they would put it on the train for 5 whole rounds but was sad to see they did not put it on which was fine cause i was able to order it through the...
