Somewhat misleading. Instead of "Tammy's VEGAN borek" Or Tammy's VEGAN place" or any other similarly named businesses, there is an almost missable, hard to notice hand written chalk board sign reading "all vegan and vegetarian."
Nothing wrong with that, I've had it before, but the buisness branding, logo, and insignia should really go to more of an effort to advertise the fact, that they are in fact VEGAN.
From the outside, to the casual observer, and to anyone looking to get a quick snack or something to eat it is not immediately obvious or noticeable that it's vegan. That being said, the range here is extensive and you could easily find something that you'd like.
Staff can be a bit lost and bemused at times, when confronted with the question, when is the next batch of such and such ready or coming? "We don't know when it will be ready or sent out." Is usually the answer given. This is in response to selecting food items that are missing or sold out.
Once again, this place is VEGAN. Nothing wrong with that, just have a better public awareness campaign...
Read moreAttractive branding on a corner spot of Preston Market so stopped by for lunch. We ordered spicy lamb, feta and spinach, and Tammy’s special. Also ordered 2 small focaccias for $5 which was piping hot and fresh. Very affordable cheap and cheerful food option with minimal indoor+outdoor seating.
Spicy lamb was my favourite. The other two were subpar and didn’t have enough filling, so was mostly chewing on borek bread. Best to eat it toasted and fresh.
Service from the young staff member was lacklustre… asked what was in the Tammy’s Special and her response was simply “everything” ?? Unhelpful when trying to make a decision. All staff handled boreks without gloves or tongs which I thought was disgustannggg considering they’re handling cash and touching other surfaces. They don’t charge extra for alternative milks with hot drinks so...
Read moreCame in today hoping to order a cheese+spinach burek but all I received was unprovoked drama.
I politely asked for a replacement when I received a plain cheese burek instead. The woman proceeded to tear the burek open with her bare hands (nail polish and all) and began stuffing it with raw spinach. Without any care or courtesy, it was tossed on the dirty counter. I was told I wasn't able to have a fresh replacement as she 'didn't want to waste food'. The request for a refund was reluctantly obliged.
Managed to take a photo before it was snatched away and disposed of.
I appreciate the stress and frustration of serving long queues of people. But there is no excuse for blatant disregard of food safety and malicious customer service.
Would be 1/5 but upgraded to 2 stars as the girl at the front counter...
