As Gardenvale residents for over 20 years, our family were rusted-on customers of the excellent Princess Chinese restaurant, but struggled to find anything comparable after it suddenly closed after 40 years. Other establishments came and went and most were either sub-par, over-priced and often run by disinterested or even down right rude staff. Thank goodness Tasty Asian moved from Elwood to Caulfield to save us. Dare I say their food surpasses the legendary Princess in all respects (and that's saying something), while their prices are most competitive and staff a delight to deal with. Their Lemon Chicken and Satay Beef are to die for, and even their Special Fried Rice is outstanding, with such generous helpings of the "special ingredients" that they are virtually more abundant than the rice (not to mention a Satay Chicken skewer on top as a bonus). Read moreDidn't think much when I ordered over the phone and the guy who was good at repeating my order for 5 diligently didn't take my name. Got there on time and there was confusion central. Later was told someone else picked up my order just before I got in. So they had to recook mine. The person on the phone was new and clearly was not told the system of logging orders against names. They were all very apologetic in the end, gave discount, free drinks and more. Unfortunately when I got home turned out they had still mixed up the recooked order and now we only had the one veg dish instead of two, and one more dish was also wrong.
