Extremely rude customer service of the man owner who argued with a client who he had communication breakdown today amongst other customers as CCTV was recorded in his restaurant. The way he treated me today was too much unacceptable just because he could not remember what he communicated with me. He shouted at me & pointed at my face just because of the miscommunication. Generally, in order to service clients, the staff miscommunicate or missing an order is very common. You can just remind customers in a proper way as they come to as a client. I did not expect the food to be done as I wanted but I think the way you talk to the clients is not the proper resolution. The way that you did is more criticism & resistance. He said “Who are you? I don’t know you why I have to cook for you?” Too rude too much. I have never faced any poor customer service like this in my life & he badly treated me the same way twice.

I was sitting to wait for my food which he cancelled as he said I did not inform him anything & went back home without paying which was very unrealistic. I had to switch from dine-in to takeaway as my son was very sleepy & cried. Importantly, before I went out to dropp my son at home I did go to talk to the owner at the counter that I am coming to pick up and pay after the food was done. If you told me that I need to pay first I surely can pay as I was not told by you that I need to pay first & my home is just 2 mins walk to be back. The convo was unclear but I was blamed for going out without paying. (Who knows what you want if you don't inform clearly??) He also said you made me waste 1 client why you changed your mind!! (omg your speech was too much unacceptable ) He actually acknowledged that I talked to him before I went out and come back to pick up food again & did not ask me for paying first. He said when I was waiting that you went out without telling me anything (emotionally shout& keeping arguing without giving me a turn to talk) This owner did to me like this twice which was too rude. He was a forgetful person who doesn’t accept the words & blamed clients that they did not tell him anything which is a liar. I would like to proceed with the law further as there was unacceptable. He said he is gonna cook aside thank you so but to be honest, no one would like to eat the food of the poor services already. He said I expressed rudely. It seems like he did not recognize himself who actually acted that...

Absolutely the rudest guy who runs this place. it's like nobody can ask him a question without getting some sort of stuffed up response. I came with my kids and just his overall interaction from when I tried to order and space out my order with the kids his responses just seemed like we are inconveniencing him as the customers. lot of sighing and rolling eyes.

in the end when I just asked him simple question why we have to pay for takeout boxes, he could've just answered me, but he just started yelling about it and started saying that I'm arguing with him. I literally just asked a question and I stated that it was strange that I had to pay for takeout boxes and he was yelling at me and made me feel very uncomfortable. he said you don't have to pay for takeout boxes if you order take away, but because he has to wash our plates we had to pay for takeout boxes. Whatever the reason just the way he explained it was very rude and unnecessarily confrontational. originally we were planning to eat at the restaurant but because of his terrible behavior, we took our food home. Bad experience. Never coming here again.

UPDATE. look at the response from the owner. He's trying to threaten me with CCTV when all I did was ask him a simple question and he started yelling at me about what other restaurants do. all I did is I simply told him that's not been my experience to be charged for Takeaway boxes and he started showing me this tiny little sign on his cash register as if it's a very obvious statement. there were plenty of people there who can testify that I wasn't arguing. clearly other people who come to this restaurant have experienced poor behavior. Any of the positive reviews are only about the food, nobody compliments the experience with the service. I'm happy to look at that footage. Don't try to threaten me and scare me with cctv. Your behavior is rude. Learn to respect...

I am from Sydney & only on my last visut to Melb, got to know that my friend & his wife are running a Thai restaurant in Bentleigh, I had heard the mud crabs were particularly worth driving all the way to Bentleigh.

When I phoned to make the reservation, I only specified I wanted to pre-order a crab - and if possible, a large one! I was told because it was the end of the crab season, they only had small crabs.

Chris recognised me immediately as I entered with another friend, and introduced his wife- the chef - to us. Getting down to business, my friend & I asked Chris for recommendations - apart from the crab. Although I wanted to also order fish, Chris told us that would be too much. I told him I wanted lots of vegies - and he told me to leave it to him. We ordered rice, and he recommended we try the rotti.

The crab dish arrived at our table not even 15 minutes after we sat down - with steaming hot rice & 2 freshly made rotti. Didn't my friend & I tuck into the crab - sooo full of flavour. The gravy with the rice - or better still - with the rotti - was such a good combination. Don't miss out on tasting this special flaky rotti!

The vegie dish complemented the crab - crunchy, lots of fresh vegies, with some prawns too thrown in! We didn't hold back and tucked in heartily - but just couldn't fit in 2 pcs of crab. Chris told us latrr that because I had requested for a large size- the chef had added some extra pcs into our dish - at no extra cost.

That's what you get at Thai Street Food. Yummy food, attention to detail, value for money and most of all - genuine friendly service.

Thanks Chris & Annie. I shall return every time I come...

Updated: The cash only ice cream counter does not do them any favours in the limited space that they have. Of late the service has slowed down and the owner has become quite cranky, maybe because they have become busier. Nice little spot that adds sparkle to Patterson Village. They are a brand new spot and have been very busy. We ordered the spicy prawn, chicken pad Thai, veg pad Thai and jasmine rice. Everything was freshly prepared and tasted very good. The pricing is also very attractive. Tip: They're very busy in the evenings so make sure you confirm the wait time when you order take away. Afternoons are much better.
