I recently visited The Bath Middle Brighton Cafe on a Saturday afternoon around 4 pm, seeking coffee and food. Initially directed to "The Fish and Chip Shop", at the corner, I was informed that coffee was served at "The Bath Cafe". Upon ordering our coffees there, we decided to also order food. However, we were informed by The Bath Cafe staff that their kitchen had closed at 12 pm and that we needed to order food from "The Fish and Chip Shop," which, we were unaware, only provided takeaway services and operated as a separate business. This led to confusion and inconvenience as there was no clear signage indicating that food was takeaway only, nor were we informed of this by the staff. Subsequently, when we attempted to sit at "The Bath Cafe's" terrace tables with our food from the corner shop, we were told by the manager that we were not welcome because we had ordered from a different establishment. Despite this setback, we found a shaded spot on the grass outside the cafe to enjoy our meal. It was disappointing to have spent $24 on a grilled salmon meal only to eat it with a disposable fork on the ground, reminiscent of a less-than-desirable experience. Observing other customers with their takeaway boxes sitting on the ground around The Bath Cafe, it was evident that we were not the only ones facing this issue. Although the food itself was tasty and served promptly, the overall experience left much to be desired, particularly considering the total bill of $62. In conclusion, while The Bath Middle Brighton Cafe may offer quality food, there is a clear need for improvement in terms of communication between the different sections of the establishment and clarity regarding the dining arrangements. I hope that providing this feedback will contribute to enhancing the customer experience for future patrons.

We attended the tennis and had a late lunch on our way home to the peninsula, at the Baths Middle Brighton, with its idyllic restaurant setting, promises much but delivers an experience that leaves room for improvement. Despite its potential to be a bustling hotspot, it seems the owners haven't fully committed to ensuring every patron receives the attentive service one might expect from such a venue. This oversight is somewhat surprising given its prime location and the apparent success of the establishment. Adjacent to the restaurant, an outdoor café offers a more casual dining option, providing a lovely spot to enjoy the beachside ambiance and a view of the traditional bathing area. However, the charm of the seaside location is somewhat marred by water pollution from the nearby Elwood Canal, and beach litter moving with the tides, resulting in less than ideal water quality compared to the pristine conditions of peninsula beaches. Our waiter was genuinely pleasant, and the food was satisfactory, though it lacked the extraordinary touches that elevate a dining experience from good to memorable. The dishes, including the salads, were nice but lacked the detail and flair that could make them stand out. While the overall experience was enjoyable, one can't help but feel that given the stunning location, both the service and the culinary offerings could be enhanced to match the expectations set by such a setting. The lack of attention to ensuring guests are well-attended to, particularly in terms of refreshments and additional needs, was a noticeable gap in the service provided at this otherwise promising establishment.

The Brighton Baths is an institution and having not been to its Cafe for brunch for years we went. Husband had scrambled eggs on toast, while I had avocado smash and we had two coffees each (flat whites and soy lattes). Food was good. The inside dining area was practically empty but there were a few sitting out the front. Would have been good to sit out the back, under the shade, overlooking the water, but this wasn't yet open to the public. I do like being near the water, something calming about it, so I will come back here. There is parking, but unless you've got a beach parking permit from Bayside Council, then you'll have to pay for it. 18.2. Back for brunch, 3 of us had breakfast and 1 had lunch, so yes brunch! I had chickpea burger, while others had scrambled eggs on toast, avocado smash and the teenager had French toast with a side of bacon. Drinks, coffees (flat white and decaf soy latte) and Proseccos. Unfortunately one of the two facilities were out of order, there was no handsoap (told staff member it was empty, note to management check these things the start of every shift) and when paying asked if we could split bill. We could and our bill of $144 was split to $122 each! I said hang on! Rounded it up to $150 and paid $75 each. Good grief. Staff member said that's why they don't do split bills, ok don't do them, put it on your menu and don't accept them. Don't not say it, accept it and overcharge!

If I could give less than 1star I would. That was the most appalling dining experience of my life - and it was the same for my whole group (8 people).

About 20 minutes after ordering a waiter brought the meal of one of our group. The rest of us sat and waited to see 7 more dishes starting to appear. But it didn’t happen.

None of the staff seemed to notice that only one person at our table was eating.

Ten minutes later we stopped a young waiter, who seemed a little dumbfounded with what happened. Yet, despite him heading to the kitchen still nothing.

So then we stopped the host as he was seating someone else nearby. He went to their system to check, called our waitress over and had a semi-heated conversation with her. She then hightailed it to the kitchen.

Yet, despite waiting for 40 minutes and having to ask twice where our food was, no-one actually came to tell us what was happening. Instead, a few minutes later plates started to arrive. They appeared to have been very sloppily put together in a panic.

The last plate to be delivered was for my sister-in-law. The cauliflower steak, which in this instance was about 15cm thick and appeared to have been deep fried - perhaps in a rush to get the plate to the table ASAP. It was dripping in oil, and looked incredibly unpleasant. Her one mouth full confirmed - it tasted worse than it looked. After waiting more than 40 minutes for her lunch, it was inedible.

She did, however, also order a salad, so anticipated that she might have something to eat. However, the salad never arrived.

Instead, the meal that had arrived solo such a long time ago, was doubled up on.

At no time did any of the staff come to make sure that we were all set now after our long wait and their apparent stuff up. My guess is that when one of our orders was unavailable and someone had to choose an alternative - that our whole table order got cancelled and just the new option got put through.

The staff’s inability to apologize or provide even a semblance of customer service during this whole experience was, quite frankly, mind boggling.

We got a half hearted apology when my sister in law finally caught the attention of our waitress, and didn’t pay for the inedible cauliflower steak or the missing salad. However we did still have a $260 bill. So it would appear that they got paid well, and we left hungry, and incredibly disappointed - not the lunch we anticipated to celebrate my father in...

Recently dined at The Baths Middle Brighton for a 3 course Christmas Work Party Lunch. The wait staff were immediately discourteous before our party of 20 had even sat down at our tables. We also received a very unwelcoming impression from the floor manager which only became worse throughout the afternoon. An hour into the sitting and we received our entrees. Underwhelming, not particularly great food and very small portions for excessively overpriced costs. One of the waiters belligerently told me to move during the middle of a conversation to shove the plate down and storm off, the service only became worse throughout the sitting. Waiters constantly pushing through to refill glasses of Sparkling Water, which no one from our group asked for but at the end were charged $10 a bottle, completely ridiculous. At one point we politely asked to switch to tap water however were met with eye rolls! Cauliflower dish was terrible. We left quickly after dessert as our buses had arrived.

Later contacted the manager to pass on some feedback however was met with an inexcusably rude and arrogant ramble of an email back, to where he did not apologise nor explain as to why the service was so bad but instead, put the blame on us for not requesting the wine list ourselves’ etc and created a barrage of useless excuses for justification. He stated that he leads his staff by example and I believe this to be true, for he was the most pompous and arrogant of all. Inexcusable service and quality of food for the thousands of dollars we spent to dine here.

I’d love to hear a few reasons that could justify the appalling service and experience. It is clear that the restaurant doesn’t seem to take critiques nor feedback well so I’m keen to see how they reply. The only positive was the great location and view however despite this I would not recommend nor return to The Baths Middle Brighton. If it was possible to leave a 0 star review I...
