i am from sub continent. i think i gut jugged and looked down, accused of theft??,accused of miss behaving?!,accused of me going there to steal money from other peoples machine???!!! i have to admit i had a quit few drinks last night.i could not even talk straight or or properly defend myself. but as i got my diploma in hospitality and cookery,my RSA certificate,i gut security license and crowd controlling license also ran a stake house kitchen as head chef in queens rd, and all this bloody things i achieved 13 years ago which makes me say with confidence that i am a man of hospitality i never created any problems or any hard time anywhere or to any hospitality personal when i went out in last 15 years. first when i went to ask the gentleman if he could help me to upgrade my membership card as he replied he will help me in five minutes, but never get back to me.And after this is the most funny thing that i went to ask him to fix the machine which said main door closed so i could play my last $ in that machine and that's when he started about with all this its not my money and some about some other machine which i still cant figure out what he meant by it.as drunk as i was then i asked him again what did i do wrong why he wont fix the machine??!! !!!!!then he started threatening me that its all in the camera???!!!also about something happened four months ago which was resolved properly by the venue manager with a very friendly manner which made me fell welcome so i started to go there more often. and after that he asked me to leave the venue. which was the icing on the top. now today with a clear head thinking about it and getting more and more angry that i got served by someone who gut a little knowledge with very little skills with a judgemental attitude which is totally wrong for hospitality or to be in a customer service job.i have lived in Clayton for 12 years with all my friends are there so i will be still be going there so i hope this gentleman changes his behavior and get some training from actual manager.may be re do his RSA training again. I also remember that few months ago i had similar problem where when i pressed collect on the first machine closest to the bar which the machine took about $4 out of my last$10 out of my total $250 losses that night for me.but not only he could not find or fix it which i ended up letting go that night. But last night he used it as an excuse to say i made it up.so not only the whole thing is so wrong by me but he is assuming and wrongfully accusing me .but he could not be bother to go check the camera then.i should demand him to go check .it will be on the first machine within the last four months.he hasn't improve much in last5 to 6 years since he started but at that time i thought he was as smart as the other Indian gentleman. with who i used to have good conversation every time i will go there. As i learned 15 years ago that if some one wronged you in a place of hospitality, to reply to it professionally the best and the most effective way is go back home and put it in...
Read moreNot sure why this place only has a 4.2 on Google Reviews. As an overall score, that’s not bad — but in my opinion, the Clayton Hotel deserves a 4.5 or higher.
The reason why is simple. A lot of places can do a parma, but very few, from my experience, do it well like the Clayton Hotel does.
On this occasion, I got the Mexican Parma ($30). It's very expensive, but luckily for the Clayton Hotel, there aren't too many places that offer a) a parma that's as good as this one, and b) a parma that's lower or the same price. You can get lower-priced parmas, but they aren't as good. Or you can spend more — but at that point, is it really that much better?
The Mexican Parma was great — juicy, succulent chicken, fresh and tangy jalapeños, crunchy nachos, a slightly sweet, slightly sour 'sour' cream, nicely melted cheese, and decently salty olives. Everything worked together really well and complemented the dish beautifully. My only issue with it: the crust was a little soggy underneath. I assume it's a bit difficult to keep it crisp with all the extra bits and bobs on top. But taste-wise, this was close to perfection.
The chips were rustic and tasty. Crisp on the outside, soft like mashed potato on the inside, with just the right amount of salt. They’d go perfectly with some aioli.
In fact, for $30, I'm kind of surprised it doesn't come with it. Or in this case, being a Mexican Parma, a cup of sour cream or salsa roja on the side? Just an idea.
The salad was OK, but as with most pubs/inns/hotels, I'm never a huge fan of these green leaf salads and whatnot. Much prefer a coleslaw or something. No points are deducted for that — I'm just picky.
I thought I'd close the review with this: Maybe they don't have a higher rating for other reasons — but definitely not because of their parmas. Check out the 4 and 5-star reviews — you'll know what I mean. They know what they're doing.
Besides the crust of my parma not being that crisp, the overall experience was still fantastic....
Read moreToday, my friends and I went to try your Friday steak special, but we were very disappointed, especially with how your staff handled the situation—it was really unfriendly. When there’s an issue with the food, why can’t the chef taste it? The blonde waitress was extremely rude. I suggested she let the chef try it since the steak tasted really bitter, and I wasn’t sure what was wrong. She took it back, but then returned, saying the chef thought it looked fine and just took a photo. They didn’t even taste it, how they supposed to say the steak is fine? By their eyes not taste? She also told me there was nothing they could do—they wouldn’t make a new one or give a refund. She kept speaking to me in a pushy tone, saying, “It’s grilled, not boiled!”—so disrespectful! I spoke with the manager, but they couldn’t resolve my issue either. While I was talking to the manager, this waitress kept interrupting us, with no respect at all. If the manager is there to handle the problem and can’t resolve it, why did she keep pushing and insisting that the food “looked fine”? She kept taking over the conversation without any respect. I told the manager I didn’t want any free drinks. We eat here almost every week and know what the food should taste like; we’ve never had this issue before. Are we really not allowed to complain when there’s a problem with the food? Are we supposed to bear all the responsibility ourselves? Very disappointed—won’t...
