The Grain is the highest quality bakery in all of the south eastern suburbs of Melbourne.. the quality of the products is better than you will get anywhere and you can guarantee that one bite will make you keep going back for more. The staff here are professional and patient and will take time to explain all products and ingredients. The atmosphere reminds you of old school service but with all the modern requirements that you would expect in 2024. If I had to call out some of my favourite products that will keep you going back is 1) the coffee (the male barista - I think his name is nick) makes the most amazing coffee every single time 2) the pies - they are the best and greatest every single time and 3) the Greek sweets - just like the traditional recipes with a modern twist: I am an advocate as this is old school quality and service in a modern and competitive world who value their customers and stand by their product. This is a review of their cheesecake. The caramel on top of the cheesecake was incredibly sweet - to the point where it was sickening - and the biscuit base was so hard I couldn't get my spoon through it. I could hardly taste the cheesecake itself through the thick, disgusting caramel, but when I scraped the caramel off, it seemed passable. It was cheaper than most cheesecakes, but to be honest, I'd rather pay more and get a better cheesecake. The woman who served me did not smile or anything and she walked off on me and left the packet with the cheesecake in it on the counter to serve someone else. I felt ignored and it was pretty rude. My mum (a pensioner) and her friend were at your coffee shop today. They had a hot chocolate and cappuccino both of which arrived almost cold . When my mum went up to the girl at the counter to give this feedback she took no responsibility and had said I didn’t make it and went to the barrista. Barrista couldn’t even be bothered turning around and acknowledging her. Being a Sunday, it’s not like you’re not getting penalty rates and charging customers surcharges either for your poor attitudes! Very poor form! We will not be returning or recommending!
