Incredibly Overpriced. $6.50 for the side of plain avocado? Such a rip off. No thanks. Won’t be returning. UPDATED In response to your comments Little Ox, I had no specific motivation other than wanting to let other diners know that I felt the food was over priced, this is the point of such google reviews. It was NOT myself and friends like you suggested, it was myself and my partner only. You must have us confused with other diners. We had no dietary requirements, we simply ordered 2 meals straight from the menu adding avocado to both. Hardly challenging Little ox. Your response to my review reflects the type of customer service we received over the weekend, something of which I was not going to add to my review but certainly feel necessary now, the eye roll I received from the older gentleman when we told him we were not ready to order yet (we had already ordered 2 coffees and 1 juice within 8 minutes of arrival) was unnecessary. Considering we spent $83.62 on 2 meals, 2 regular coffees (long black and a latte) and an OJ with ginger for two of us. Technically, you charge $13 for 1 plain avocado, hence my over priced comment. Not at all generous in my opinion. Exactly why we won’t be returning. FYI your menu online is incorrect, it does not reflect the dine in menu we received on Saturday. Thanks.

"Tucked away" in a lonesome part of Brighton - as far as cafes and stores go - is The Little Ox. It's in an area much more conducive to finding good parking, and has a nice, welcoming feeling to it on the inside. I came here today on a warm, sunny day, and they have a big outdoor seating area, and plenty of room on the inside, with big wide open windows to make you feel part of the outside still. They have a great all day menu full of your favourites, and a good selection for lunch. Admittedly, I really only ordered a salmon Eggs Benny, which yes, is something I can make at home, but it was still presented well and these things always taste better when someone else makes it for you (though I would have had a side of butter with mine if I knew how dry the toast was going to be). I had a Mango Smoothie too, and that was nice, though the passionfruit inside it, almost overtook in flavour. Everyone at my table LOVED their coffees, and their burger and Ruebin sandwich were apparently great too. Overall this was a great lunch outing. I can't really fault it at all. All well priced and everything tasted good and was presented nicely. I had been wanting to come here for a while now, so I'm glad I finally got the chance and would highly recommend it.

What a lovely little brunch spot! Walked in on a Saturday morning around 10:20am and it was fairly busy around this time. Lucky enough to get a spot for 2 inside as it was raining. I didn’t need to wait at all but thought I would have had to due to how busy it was! Menu has so many yummy things, it was hard to choose! My friend ordered the fritters, and I had the rosti stack. Both of us added bacon to our dishes. Everything tasted so delicious and the bacon was cooked to perfection. The rosti’s were hefty! Avocado was a nice touch of freshness, as was the creme fraiche and the poached egg - added a bit of moisture to my dish which was really nice. It it had just been the rosti and the bacon I think it would have been too dry! But with everything together - absolutely delicious! My friend also couldn’t stop raving about the fritters so they must have been good! Very happy with the choice I made with the rosti stack and highly recommend you try! I will drop by again to try some other dishes! Bonus points for cleanliness of the place - modern and really nicely laid out. The service was also really great- everyone was lovely and accommodating. Parking is strictly street but it’s relatively easy to find a spot.
