Exceptional Dining Experience at The Sporting Globe in Plenty Valley
As part of our ongoing effort to discover the best dining options beyond the Yarra Valley, to inspire our own restaurants and give our followers new options to explore on their way to our region, our team at Yarra Valley Ventures travelled to The Sporting Globe in Plenty Valley this evening. We were thoroughly impressed by this exceptional eatery, and we're eager to share our experience with our followers.
From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was lively and engaging, thanks to the sports-themed décor and hundreds of televisions. The menu offered a diverse range of delicious options, which were expertly prepared and presented promptly. The drinks selection was also impressive, with a vibrant colour palette that added to the fun and lively vibe.
However, what truly set our experience apart was the exceptional service provided by our waiter, Daniel. His friendly demeanour, quick wit, and genuine enthusiasm made him an outstanding ambassador for the restaurant. Our team members were unanimous in their praise for Daniel, with several commenting that he was the best customer service representative they'd encountered in a long time.
It's worth noting that Daniel's salesmanship was also impressive, making him an asset to the restaurant. His talents are truly wasted as a waiter, and we hope he's being recognised for his outstanding work.
While we usually focus on recommending local options in the Yarra Valley region, we make an exception for The Sporting Globe in Plenty Valley. If you're traveling through the area or looking for a dining experience that can't be beaten, we highly recommend paying this exceptional bar and...
Read moreHonestly this was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. They were quite clearly under staffed for the evening and this made all of the staff extremely rude, grumpy and taking it out on their customers. (Not just myself, our group but I witnessed them being obnoxious to customers as they were ordering at the bar or when THE STAFF got something wrong it was the customers fault.) We were a large group but booked in advance. And they also seemed to still be taking walk ins, despite being understaffed. I ordered on my table as the second person and while waiting for our meals to come they began to serve people at our table that had ordered late first. About 6 meals out of our three tables worth of people came out. And then nothing, all of a sudden service for our group just stopped. Not once did a wait staff say "Sorry about the wait guys" or even bring the food and drink over with a smile. It made for a very uncomfortable experience. In the end I was the third last person to receive my meal out of everyone on the three tables (A salad mind you). It had two tiny thumb sized pieces of chicken on it, and it took almost 1hr 45mins to be served to me from when I ordered. I normally would be someone who is super patient and understanding of staff when they are busy. Especially given that we were such a large group. However, the real lack of customer service and rude staff made this unbearable IMO. I would not recommend this place and I would not go back. Good luck in improving the behaviour of your staff here. They definitely...
Read moreDocking 1 star just for price as it was a little bit on the steep side. A "once every 6 months" place as I would call it.
We ordered porterhouse steak with waffle fries, side of greens, jug of bitters, chicken bites, coffee, and a surf and turf.
Good stuff: Friendly prompt service staff. Love me a good smile greeting. Our waitress was being polite but checking in 3 times how's the food going was 2 times too many. No fault there. She's just doing her job. But it does get repetitive. Wide menu range. Steak, medium rare, cooked perfectly. Portion size was perfect too. We were commenting that how although we ordered a lot we didn't feel stuffed or bloated at the end of our meal. Waffle fries were full on too and the greens on garlic butter delicious. Jug of bitters was refreshing too. Well done.
Area for improvements Coffee... 3/4 coffee 1/4 foam? What's with that? And it was luke warm. Meh. Surf and turf, the meat was smaller than my own just porterhouse, and for the additional $9 they only served 3 medium / small prawns. About the size of your pinky finger curled up. The chicken bited were delicious but i think they used exclusively breast meat and sad ly it was rather dry and chewy, but the marinade and coating 5/5. The greens could have been more than long beans abd broccoli though.
Overall: a family friendly joint but very noisy coz of the sports atmosphere. Good food with some caveats. Worth a visit once everything 6 months...
