Like most ''Japanese' Restaurants in Melbourne they are actually Chinese and this one is no different which accounts for its poor quality.
In Regards to the Ramen, The broth is watery and weak, and lacks ingredients, mostly it is 90% noodles with 2 bits of pork on top. They only offer two main Ramen dishes, a Plain or the Volcano. The plain is very very pedestrian and the volcano is overly hot most likely because of the Chinese chef not understanding Japanese flavours. The main issue though is they water broth and tons of noodles.
In regards to the service...i walked in at 11am JUST as they opened, their was no one else in the restaurant.totally empty.... I walked over to a 4 seater table, and the waitress quickly ran over and said, just 1??? just 1!?? sit over here on the 2 seater table....(because obviously the place was overflowing) a few minutes later 2 asian girls walked in, went straight over to a 4 seater and yet....not a word.....huh???...then a white couple walked in a were seated at a 2 seater table.....hmmmmm....SLIGHTLY racist ?????
Dont bother with this place. Ippudo serves the best ramen has now opened in QV Melbourne, and Shinjuku on Russell street are open 24 hours a day and they are almost as good as ippudo. Both have great non racist service and the Ramen is...
Read morePlaced order through Menulog and it sits for over 10 mins awaiting to be confirmed. Call the restaurant and they said they accepted the order and itâll be ready in 18 mins. When I said that the order said cancelled she said itâs being made but if thereâs an issue with Menulog to call them.
I call Menulog and they said that it waited to be confirmed for too long so it was automatically cancelled and when they called the store they said the food wasnât being made.
So not knowing whether the food is being made or not, I drive to the restaurant to find out. As it turned out, the food wasnât being made and I have to wait for the food to be made again.
Not only did I have to wait more than twice as long to get food, have to speak to people with mixed levels of English, but the order was $4.69 more expensive ordering via Menulog, when itâs pickup not delivery.
Never ordering from this place again. If you canât speak English properly then you shouldnât be doing customer service in Australia. If I go to Japan, I know how to order to ensure that everyone understands each other. So should the...
Read moreBeen to this franchise before, it was fine, nothing to complain about and nothing to rave about either, average I suppose, but our last visit was pretty disappointing. 2 out of 3 dishes were not great, the salmon donburi was HUGE but the 90% white rice and sprinkle of diced up tiny pieces of salmon on top was not it, the ratio was off & did not look like what was shown on the menu. But the worst of the dishes had to be the Tsukemen ramen, it was terrible and appalling. The broth was runny, bland & lacked any embodiment of what a decent dipping ramen should be it was almost as though they ran out of thick, velvety, flavor packed Tsukemen broth & decided to just use the regular tonkotsu soup. The noodles were just as horrendous, overcooked, gluggy & lackluster no hint of that satisfying chewiness this dish is renowned for. What a waste of money & calories. I know it's not an Authentic âJapanese restaurantâ, but a little bit of consistency and care would have been appreciated. Staff were ok, but I...
