Three Little Bakers — Restaurant in Melbourne

This little gem was so good I had to leave a review. TLDR probably one of the best bacon egg and cheese sandwiches I’ve ever had. The roll was baked in house of course and they give you the option of having it toasted. Doing so would be a wise decision. The bread slaps! It’s flaky, crispy, flavoursome and sufficient. There was a healthy amount of bacon and cheese. The sauce they added after they toasted it was really tasty I’m not sure if it was house made but it was sweet and I def subscribe to it. The roll was pre prepared and in the cabinet so the egg wasn’t fresh fried but that’s understandable given the ladies in there were so busy offering excellent service. In the 5mins I was there they greeted and conversated with 3-4 of their regular customers. Murrumbeena is a small, quiet place particularly on a weekday morning but they had a steady stream of customers and it’s no surprise having sampled their fare. Super affordable and value for money. The slices looked incredible and the selection was vast. The lady said her favourite was the lemon tart and I regret not getting one. New owners, and the quality has gone downhill. Price increases an inevitable part of business, but they now charge a card transaction fee too. The old owners used to be so friendly and chatty, especially Marta. I really really miss them and would love to know where they've gone. ☹️ Sadly the new team would rather talk to each other than to their customers. The other week I went in for a sandwich and was completely ignored as the staff chatted amongst themselves while my sandwich toasted. Growing up in Albury, a local bakery called Smart's had hands-down the best sausage rolls in the region. It was a sad day when that bakery shut its doors several years ago, and no other bakery I walked into came close.

Until I walked into Three Little Bakers. Taking a first bite into their sausage roll instantly sent me back in time - I had found a worthy replacement. But aside from my strange nostalgia for sausage rolls of a bygone era, the service here is very friendly and fast, and their other products and coffee are high quality.
