I’m not really one to leave reviews unless a place is absolutely amazing or completely disappointing, and unfortunately in this case I’m quite upset that we even bothered to book this restaurant. It was a Mother’s Day booking so keep that in mind - i’m sure the staff were overwhelmed, under pressure etc but I just haven’t had these problems elsewhere on Mother’s Day/ busy holidays. We ordered three bruschetta, of which one came. We advised the staff that we required two more and they brought out one more. We then spoke (extremely politely) to three different wait staff and requested that the final bruschetta be brought out. We were incredibly patient and made no complaints although the third one never came and the second was late. Of course come time to pay the bill they had charged us for three, so we amended it. We were rushed at every turn, with the wait staff taking our plates as fast as they could, in one instance when my sister in law’s husband was only just wiping his mouth. They took our orders far too quickly and said that they needed to take our orders now so that another table could have our menus. My lemon lime and bitters tasted like straight syrup, and my partners old fashioned was half the amount it should have been. We ordered some pizzas which were equally as disappointing- the pizza was over cooked causing the crust to cut up my partner and my mouth. If there was any silver lining it is that I’m happy I got my moneys worth in prosciutto. They practically dumped a mountain of prosciutto and Parmesan on top of the pizza which you would think would be amazing - but it was so difficult to enjoy, far too salty, overcooked base, not enough rocket, so greasy you would think it was fried - just not worth $27 per pizza. My mother in law ordered a seafood pizza which had maybe five prawns on it and even she was unhappy (she is very agreeable in nature). The music was so loud that it was almost impossible to hear eachother which maybe would have been fine if we were busy eating amazing food - but that wasn’t the case. All in all - a waste of time and money. Take my experience with a grain of salt as the reason we booked was because my sister in law raved about her experience there - along with the large amount of people in this review column. I’m just sorry this restaurant is now in my ‘absolutely never...
Read moreWe have been here quite a few times so we decided book a table for 20 pax for our daughter's birthday. Because of the number of people we had to do the $39 set menu, which we have no problems with. While we were ordering, we had to negotiate to get more food because they were offering 6 pizzas and 4 pastas. Worked it out to be about 2 pieces of pizza and a small portion of pasta per person and that doesn't add up even close to $39 per person. Ended up getting 8 pizzas and 4 large pastas. Had a quick chat with the manager about the value of the set menu after our meal, after calculating the cost of the meals from their menu, was really only about $430 and I questioned why we're paying $800 altogether. Unfortunately the manager didn't see our side of the story and continued to tell me that they did us a favour for letting us dine at the restaurant because they normally don't allow kids to dine on a Saturday night because they could make $2000 for our table instead. Maybe it seemed logical to him at the time, he proceeded to question how many restaurants I have run in my time to further support his theory that they are doing the right thing.
Well just for your knowledge, I have worked as a restaurant manager for just over 16 years in my time and I would never speak to any customers with your poor attitude and manner. Nor do you need to tell anyone how much more money your restaurant can make to justify your actions because I pointed out to you that the numbers don't add up. Just thought your customers and colleagues might want to see and hear what you choose to say to your customers in private when you don't agree with them, or don't know what else to say. Something you should reflect upon...
Read moreOne of the best meals in Melbourne! Due to the C word, heart attacks & other illness we have rescheduled quite a few times and it was WORTH THE WAIT!
We took friends from Brisbane for our first dining experience and after a day of exploring iconic laneways & eating in well known foodie places I thought 'can TOCCA live up to the expectations'?
Out of the 8 of us we ordered, various pasta, risotto, schnitzel & focaccia and we all loved our food. We all tasted each other's food. In my opinion the seafood squid ink linguine was perfect. The pasta was delicate without being stodgy and so extremely tasty, you'd be happy with the pasta alone. The seafood being prawns, muscles some fish & calamari was delicious. The good was perfectly seasoned nothing else required. The serving sizes are generous and service is fast.
The staff are welcoming and at the time we arrived (5.45pm) the restaurant was filling up quickly. People from all walks of life came to eat, families with young children, couples, older folks for a catch up. The music is loud enough to hear and good enough to makes you feel like you're out having a good time but you can still hold a conversation. Staff constantly check you're happy with your food & remove dishes quickly.
Pricing seems average for restaurant dining but the food & the enjoyment of eating at TOCCA makes you happily pay your account and want to come back again and again.
Book now while we are so lucky to have such a wonderful, local restaurant at...
