This morning I dropped past Xocolatl with my family (2 kids), after a trip to a nearby park, for a take-away ice cream treat. Ordering a hot chocolate, and 2-scoop ice cream, I asked if it was possible to have one scoop in a take-away coffee cup rather than their usual ice cream cups.
Although I didn't explain it in detail to the staff, one of my children has sensory issues and can't cope with flavours/colours being mixed. Normally I expect this sort of request to be met with hesitation (since this in practical terms equates to 2 x 1 scoop ice-creams, which is more expensive), and certainly wouldn't expect particularly generous servings thereafter. Instead, the staff at Xocolatl were friendly and judgement free - happy to oblige without question. The servings were generous and as is the case with everything at Xocolatl, the quality was exceptional.
Thanks to the staff at Xocolatl for this exceptional experience. A fantastic local business and I can't recommend...

Much to my delight, it was full of people, and beautifully warm and cosy. The staff were so lovely...very friendly and helpful. We were there for about an hour and a half, and in that time, they sold a constant stream of their stunning chocolates, which is a testament to how good they taste. The coffee was extremely hot, which I find alters the taste, and consistency of the milk a little, but other than that, this place is an absolute gem. It closes later than the others, which is just what this shopping...

The bloke that made my coffee made it great, the girl was very efficient, both greeted every customer, made space for strollers, got highchairs when requested. The highlight was probably this woman I was sitting next with a broken arm that had ordered toast. She couldn’t put butter on it herself so she asked the girl if she could do it, took it to the back, and even cut it up into pieces for her. Next to me was a woman with a guide dog. Overall, the whole experience was delightful and the two individuals working looked like they have been working for years. No savoury food but the delights that the they did have...
