Town Hall Hotel — Restaurant in Melbourne

I recently visited this bar and was really disappointed by how I was treated. I go there here and there. I was there by myself today, I had just arrived and was drinking some water when I was yelled at and made to feel unwelcome by the owner for not purchasing alcohol. I was hoping for a relaxing and comfortable environment, especially considering I have a disability and this is one of the few places I can walk to easily, and I have some food or a drink every now and then when I can afford to.

I tried to express how I felt, but my concerns were ignored, and it felt like I wasn’t even being listened to. They were screaming at me sniding me, scouring at me and saying how I was acting "entitled" whilst they swore at me in front of the entire bar about how I was taking up room, despite there being several empty tables and that I had been to this place and purchased things many times prior. It didn't matter what I said, they just kept abusing me and made me feel extremely uncomfortable and intimidated. They then justified in front of me to their bar staff that treating people that way is acceptable, it's quite concerning. The rest of the bar basically cleared out, everyone except the bar staff looked really uncomfy. It's incredibly disheartening when you try to enjoy a space and instead feel judged and mistreated. I would strongly recommend that the staff and management reconsider how they treat their customers, especially those who are just trying to have a quiet time without being pressured. I was literally doing nothing but just drawing and trying to have a pleasant night at an environment that I enjoy.

Everyone deserves to be treated with respect and kindness, and unfortunately, I did not experience that here, and it seems from reading reviews that this is not an isolated incident, that the bar owners do not know or understand how to speak...

Kids friendly neighbourhood pub which serves pretty decent food.

Really really friendly and chilled service even though it was sooooo busy. The eye fillet steak was beautifully done at a decent price and the kids absolutely smashed it. Hubby loved his bangers and mash and the lamb cutlets were beautifully cooked as well. The salad that came with the meats were slightly sad looking though, the tomatoes in the Greek salad side in the lamb dish was not fresh. I would hate to order the Greek salad on its own (which available)

The margarita is also not great. Beautiful to look at but wayyyyyy too much salt on the rim meant a lot fell onto the drink as well.

Despite of the slightly woeful salad and margarita I will definitely be back...

great atmosphere. beer garden is very nice and the inside is nice and cozy. great for a drink or two. drink prices were okay and the location was great. service was also pretty fast.

bartenders were a bit uninterested and didnt know much about what they were serving. Asked for a local independent and they suggested carlton draught.

food left something to he desired. they had a vegiterrian section of the menu so had relatively high hopes but was a bit let down by the options. ended up with the eggplant parma which was okay but very small and few chips. also quite expensive for what it was.

others who ordered meat dishes seems to enjoy them but some complaints about chewy meat.

wouldnt mind coming back but definitely better...
