Lunch @AlmakanMediterranean opting for a table outside in the beautiful warm Melbourne sunshine. I chose an entree and eyed the dessert.

Octopus Char grilled octopus legs served with orange and fennel salad with special Almakan sauce

The octopus is perfectly cooked, has a lovely char on the outside, slight crunch, tender on the inside, and with a squeeze of lemon, the creamy aoili, this makes for a delicious entree. I like the simple orange and Fennel Salad for a nice touch of freshness and acidity too. For the price would have expected more on the plate.

Qatayef Middle Eastern pancakes enclosed with stretchy cheese blend topped with sugar syrup

Crunchy but soft pastry encasing gooey cheese, a splash of syrup which is not too sweet, and the crunchy pistachios make for a delicious finish to the meal. This very enjoyable and not too rich, cheesy, or sweet dessert goes down a treat!

What’s better than smashing a workout? Smashing a Lebanese Mediterranean feast right after! Lucky for us, Al Makan sits just outside our gym making it the perfect cheat meal (or just a well-earned feed).

Batata Harra: Crispy, golden, and seasoned to perfection. No soggy spuds here!

Makanek: Juicy, flavour-packed, and the perfect balance of lamb & beef to kickstart the feast.

Mixed Shawarma Platter: Succulent lamb & chicken, paired with fattouch, rice, bread, and creamy labne & hummus. Every bite was a winner.

Not just a spot for great food, the service was top-notch, and we loved having a chin wag with the owners. If you’re in North Melbourne and craving quality street eats, Al Makan is a must.

Boss I still give you 5 stars as your food is excellent and your staffs are friendly and prompt. But your drinks preparation/served can be very slow at times. Few occasions, my family's food finished, but the drinks still haven't arrive. I noticed at times, the drinks are pooled together with other drinks orders before they're sent to customers. I understand perhaps it's more productive to send "one shot". But that will delay the very first customer's drink. Quite frustrating when drinks have not arrived when food already finished. Hope you'll look into it. It's not a complaint. Just feedback. Otherwise, your restaurant is really awesome, with delicious food and...
