Had a terrible experience here for lunch. The service was non-existent really, we got a menu and sat ourselves. Our server came to take our order and bring the food and we never saw her again.
Had the beef burger and the calamari. Burger was edible at best, very bland with only tomato, lettuce, mayo and onions. We said yes when the server asked if we wanted it medium rare but came out well done. The calamari was very very disappointing. Very tough and rubbery, and the $19 calamari dish came with exactly 6 rings of calamari on a bed of chopped lettuce with tomato, red onion and feta. It was so bad neither of us would eat it.
Despite not being the kind of people who like to complain when something is bad, we would have let the server know - if she had bothered to come back to our table at all. So when we went to pay we let the woman at the counter know that we were very disappointed in our meal and that we didn't eat the calamari dish because it was not very good. She proceeded to tell us that she loves the calamari and that it was fresh.
This was one of the worst restaurant experiences we've had in a while, and would tell anyone to avoid it. There are tons of places nearby that are heaps better. The only thing tasty thing in the whole meal was the fries. Drugstore across the street is a really great cafe,...
Read moreThe service here is absolutely appalling (with the sole exception of a kind French waiter).
I arrived at 11:40 and politely asked if I could get a table for two in 20 minutes. The French waiter kindly checked and assured me he’d save one of the booth-style tables for us. I waited patiently for 20 minutes, only to see the table become free—and then watch in disbelief as another waitress seated a group of three people there. The French waiter intervened, reminding her that the table had been promised to me, but she rudely dismissed him, claiming those tables were only for groups of four. Meanwhile, there were two nearby tables occupied by ONE person each.
She then looked around and, with an appalling attitude, told me there was no table for me—despite me having waited there for 20 minutes as instructed. The group of three ended up leaving, seemingly uncomfortable with the situation.
The entire experience was horrendous. On top of the disgusting service, the food quality doesn’t redeem this place either. Do yourself a favor and avoid it entirely.

Read moreI have dropped in here on a couple of occasions to get a coffee before a movie, so it was a pleasant surprise to be invited to try a few of their brunch items.
The cafe itself has been open for several years, when it first opened, it was a much needed lift to Toorak Road. I'm glad that they have maintained the interior so it feels as crisp as when it first opened. Light filled, nice amount of wood, decent amount of seating.
In terms of the food, the salads were incredibly inviting, alluring.... dare I say... sexy? Anyone that has told you that you can't make friends with salad has not gone to Urban Provedore. I'm tempted to get some salads takeaway for a meal at night to accompany my protein or for lunch at work.
The absolute star dish is the zucchini and corn fritters with sprinkled salted cheese. Oh to the em GEE! it was good. My friend woofed these down so fast. When a dish visually entices you, but satisfies you also, you know you are on a winner. It's a five star dish.
Decent coffee and juices - very friendly service. It's a great cafe to for the South Yarra mums (and the people...
