Velvet Bean — Restaurant in Melbourne

Been there three times dined in today and we were not happy with the service at all.No friendly greetings,even we had to help ourselves to get the water bottle and glass.The chef seems angry and he serves the food himself.Maybe he is unhappy with the owner or management.When he came to serve the food in our table there was a bang noise of the plate.The big breakfast was generous and the food quality was good as well.I have had scrambled eggs in many places but I have not eaten well done scrambled looking like an omelette. You can see the photos. I dont really write negative reviews but I didnt find this place worthy to give a go. I donot recommend...

Southland is so fortunate to have this café with its great ambience and fantastic food & coffee! The café that was at this location previously was no where near as good as Velvet Bean, they’ve really turned this part of the shopping centre around. The staff are all wonderful and they never miss a beat. I frequently get coffee and lunch here and would recommend it to anyone, even venturing into an (at times) dreaded shopping centre for high quality service and a delicious meal/coffee. I also think it’s very reasonably priced despite other reviews considering what you pay in other suburbs and the CBD....

Bread is always very hard, not sure if it’s the type of sourdough or old bread or toasted too much but it’s not enjoyable. Each time I’ve been there, it’s been the same. I eat sourdough often but it doesn’t seem like a nice quality. Their portions are not that great. Everywhere else you go they give you 2 hash browns as a portion, here they give you 1. Seems stingy. The staff are lovely and the music they play is nice and calming. I only go here for coffee now, not for food. I hope they change their bread and portion...
