Came here at 2pm on a Tuesday. Place was full but waited only 2 mins and a table cleared up. I had to share with another couple. This place really reminds me of Vietnam, staff are friendly but don't expect a typical Aussie greeting, it's just gestures with smiles when seated or when taking orders. I ordered the $10 beef pho, $3 Vietnamese ice coffee and took away $7 Hainanese chicken rice. The pho was OK, beef slices of were tender but broth was average, I've had better at Bayswater. The coffee comes in a takeaway plastic cup like bubble tea. It was very strong and sweet, love it! Hainanese chicken rice was disappointing, OK it was cheap but the chicken smell really put me off, it had a smell of raw chicken, I guess they boiled it without any stock or seasoning. The place is quite small and cramp, about 7 four seater tables and 2-3 more tables outside. There's barely a place to walk so best to eat and go. I'll probably come back just for the coffee! Lots of council paid parking around, $2.50 an hour but I think at lunch time parking would be limited.

First and foremost - unless you speak Vietnamese, there WILL be a language barrier issue at this restaurant - 90% of the staff do not have even a basic understanding of English, apart from one older woman who is usually behind the counter. Seating is cramped (upstairs is better) and it's somewhat organised chaos / there seems to be no structure between staff. However, the food and price make up for it - $10 for a massive bowl of piping hot Pho is unheard of in 2023. The flavour and quantity easily rivals the place across the road and is perhaps even better in my opinion, for almost half the price. It isn't the best presented, but I guess it's part of the 'charm' so to speak. Have been here three times, on 2 occasions they wanted to give more change than we were entitled to and the 3rd time they missed out our spring rolls (language barrier, even though we specifically pointed to the items on the menu and tried basic communication). Food is 5/5, service and atmosphere 3/5.

I've recently dined at this restaurant again. It was late evening and there were not many customers around. At first I liked this restaurant because it was giving a good deal like $10 per serve. But to my dismay my experience that evening was not good. I find that besides poor English the staff there also has poor hygiene. Because there were few patrons that time the staff brought out cutleries n chopsticks to wipe n dry. The cloth they were using looks dirty, used to wipe table n chairs. Also when chopsticks cutleries drop on floor they just pick them up, no more cleaning. I also noticed that the cups they provided us for tea was sticky. At first I thot it was just my cup. Then we asked for a new one. To my horror, they were all the same. Wonder what else goes on in the kitchen. My recommendation is, if you are a hygiene freak most definitely avoid this place. I'm no hygiene freak, but my experience tells me, I'm not going back. You decide.

Price is the affordable around Springvale, food is okay (but poor sanitary and hygiene conditions) probably the only 1 star worth it. You cannot find such price elsewhere.

However, the service is terrible:

To sum up, this business is only interested in doing business with Vietnamese speaking customers. Most staff don’t speak English at all, except simple words like takeaway or numbers (price). There is no way to communicate your special requests to them except body language or using translation software. Here you will find yourself a foreigner travelling and eating in a 3rd world’s countryside.

On Feb. 22nd, 2025 around 10:30 am:

I asked to order a takeaway Hog Plum Juice, the middle aged male staff wearing a baseball cap used his finger to tell me to go outside and wait, just like redirecting a dog to move, without providing me with an approximate time for waiting. I politely asked him how long I needed to wait, he replied the word “busy” without explaining anything else, but instead kept talking to and taking other Vietnamese speaking customers’ take away and dining-in orders. Despite asking other staff a few times for the drink, they either nodded their heads to me (meaning to say they cannot understand English) or simply repeated “wait”. I waited outside for 15mins and no staff approached me, seeming like they just completely ignored me and didn’t want to provide service to me at all. During my waiting period, I saw drinks of other customers ordered after mine were available and ready for them to pick-up from the front desk, but they just left mine.

They DO NOT HAVE RESPECT towards any non-Vietnamese speaking customer at all! I won’t come to such an unethical...
