Continue our Vietnamese cuisine hunt; we found this restaurant- #Xuan serves the traditional Vietnamese breakfast, Banh Cuon. The steamed rice rolls are made from scratch in their back kitchen and served fresh and piping hot. The rolls are thin, soft and chewy. If you don't like to eat raw mixed vegetables onside, the beef rice rolls are a better option for you as they wrap the meat and vegetables in the rolls, and the hot rice rolls sort of cook the vegetables lightly when you eat them. We figured that would be a way to eat to prevent lesser food wastage because usually, we won't be able to finish the vegetables on the side. While the wait staff are friendly and tries to explain the dishes and provide recommendations in Vietnamese. So those who do not speak Vietnamese might find it hard to communicate with the staff. Consistency -✅️ Food Quality - ✅️ Efficiency- ✅️ Service - ✅️ Price - ✅️

Lunch at Xuân Bánh Cuốn in Sunshine. Delicious north Vietnamese style food in a no frills restaurant! So good 😊😋🤤. . Bánh Cuốn: this is a North Vietnamese style dish that we've recently discovered and absolutely love! The flavours are so good 🤤🤤🤤. - Bánh Cuốn / Bánh Tôm Chiên: Streamed Rice Paper Rolls with Shrimp Hash Brown. - Bánh Cuốn Nhân (Có Chá): Original Pork & Prawn Filling Steamed Rice Paper Rolls. - Bánh Cuốn chả mực: with fried squid balls. . Phở Cuốn Thịt Nướng - Grill Pork Wrap in Fresh Pho Noodles (Dry): I've never had this dish before! It was super yummy 😋😋. The grilled pork inside was perfect, and it was freshly rolled! Reminds me of the yumcha dish Cheong fun (rice noodle roll). . Chả Nem Hải Phòng - Northern Style Spring Rolls: really good flavours! Very different to the usual springs rolls 👌👌.

This place offers really yummy Vietnamese dishes, which are not so commonly found in most Viet restaurants in Melbourne. The dishes are mostly from the Northern part of Vietnam. We Vietnamese would usually have them as street food too. We ordered Bánh cuốn (Viet steamed rice paper rolls with pork filling), gỏi đu đủ khô bò (papaya salad with beef jerky) and bún riêu cua (vermicelli tomato based soup with crab paste). They are all so tasty. The best order of the day for me was the coconut jelly in the coconut fruit. The coconut dessert was not cheap (when I think of the price in Vietnam 🥲) but I didn’t regret getting. It’s so refreshing and cooling for a hot day in Melbourne. This place is close to Sunshine train station or there is big parking area, so pretty accessible.

I used to like ordering food here, more specifically the beef pho wraps. Needless to say I dont and wont ever come back.

Heres why, I walked into the store a little before six to order take away. The store was very quiet with maybe 2 tables with customers. I went to the front counter and ordered 2 trays of pho beef wraps, the person who served me spoke very minimal english but i thought he understood what I wanted. Some staff and the owner/manager??? (we will just call him the manager for now) was sitting at a table having a pre peak time dinner.

So standing there for a few minutes and out comes my two BOWLS of beef pho, ingriedients in one bowl and soup in another container ready for takeway. This though was completely not what I ordered.

Thinking this would was just a miscommunication, I wasnt too stressed or angry as in my mind it could be easily fixed So I politely explained to the waiter that this was not what I ordered and could I have some pho beef wraps instead. He went and talked to the manager who was eating on the table.

The following actions is why I gave a 1 star rating. The manager rudely kept eating as I stood there awkwardly while looking at him, he finally got off his seat after a minute or 2 and asked me in fluent english what was the problem.

I explained that the waiter had my order wrong and I would like to have it corrected. Now at this stage I was annoyed with the rudeness but I still wanted my food. Instead of correcting the order he asked me to take the pho bowls instead, to which I said no. When I asked for the pho beef wraps again he replied that they couldnt do it because THEY HAD RUN OUT OF BEEF.

Never has my intelligence been so insulted before, If he was going to spout BS at least make it believable. To tell me they had run out of beef before the busy dinner period, yeah right. I could tell he just couldn't be bothered to fix an error his OWN staff had made. In my mind it was an easy fix, no food would have been wasted as he could have served the pho to another customer because it was still in its containers and making my dish would have only taken a bit of time.

I left more than a little bit angry and upset. Needless to say I have never been back and neither have any of my friends and acquaintances who I have told the story to.

Poor handling and rudeness and just a lack of common courtesy.

Now as an non vietnamese asian person who has lived in St Albans most of my life I expect that some restaurants will have waiters whose English can be a bit iffy sometimes. This is less common nowdays as a lot of non asians eat asian food and restaurant owners have recognised this fact by hiring staff who can at least speak some english. I've had many a mistaken order delivered to my table over the years and when this has occurred 100% of the time it has been corrected with apologies delivered. Not at this place though, instead I was treated like an idiot and the issue was not corrected leaving me no other option but to leave. Poor business practice. ### TLDR...

Not going back because of today's experience! We ordered from the menu crispy skin chicken with noodles! The noodle soup was okay but the crispy chicken was crispy but undercooked inside, still bleeding blood around the bone and seeping blood on the plate!!!🤢🤢🤢 We asked if they can cook it a but more to get rid of the blood they said yes and took the plate of undercooked chicken. Then after a while the lady returned with a plate of boiled chicken with battered skin???😤 not what we originally ordered!! I noticed as you removed the batter the skin underneath was soft not crispy!! Huh trying to do some shifty stuff!!! Saying the batter was crispy skin!!!😡 we complained to the staff and the owner and they just said we will not charge you for the chicken but charge you for the noodles!!! 🤤🤤 what kind of service is that!! Overall they're customer service has to improve and they must understand not to serve undercooked chicken to customers and then serve them boiled chicken deep fried with batter as a replacement!!! We are definitely not...

I'm a regular customer but todays dining experience was very disappointing. We ordered crispy skin chicken with noodle soup, first time the chicken came out with crispy skin but under cooked, still has blood in it, 🤢🤢 they were happy to make a new serve. The replacement chicken was a battered boiled chicken (cooked chicken that got battered then deep dried to try make outside crispy???). It was completely different to the 1st time they served, also not an authentic way to cook. We ordered crispy skin chicken not a battered chicken!!! 😡😡😡 Complained to staff, but the staff just ignored it. Then complained to owner, he tried to convience me this is how they serve this dish. I told him im a regular here and this is not the 1st time I ordered this dish. He just took chicken away and said no charged for chicken but still charged for noodle. 😤😤 We had to eat plain noodle without meat, no alternative food offered, no apology. 😩😩 Their customer service must improve.....if not they will get more...
